This new look at Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is chock full of almost two minutes of gameplay goodness. Fighting/feeding dragons, sniping with a bow and arrow, and going all medieval matrix-y are all included.

APB: Reloaded goes ?Open Beta 2

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
The latest patch (a.k.a. 1.5.2) for APB: Reloaded has gone live. Since its release a few days ago,*players may have experienced some downtime and particular issues in some in-game districts, but in an update on the official developer blog, this has been foreseen. Bear in mind that erratic behavior might be on-going for the entirety of the week while the team works out the kinks; remember that before the cursing and wall-embedding head-butting begins.Admittedly, ?the team is working round-the-clock on another patch to solve the remaining disconnection issues? on an update described to bring ?the biggest changes to Missions, Matchmaking, Skill Rating and District Recommendation to date.

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
As previously announced, we've got a special and completely free bonus pack of Red Dead Redemption DLC coming as a show of appreciation for the awesome long-term support for the game's multiplayer modes since its release in 2010.

Today we can confirm the title for you: the Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack will feature new fan-favorite multiplayer characters by popular demand (including a certain grizzled ol' gunslinger as pictured above) as well as new multiplayer locations for players of Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches and other popular online modes to get busy in.

We expect the pack to be finished and available for download on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in September.

Oh, also, yes – for those who are asking about a return to the original Undead Overrun multiplayer modesettings – we are planning to release a title update in the lead up to the new free DLC pack which will address that.

Red Faction's Future at THQ Doesn't Sound Promising

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
THQ doesn't have meaningful plans for Red Faction after Armageddon sold poorly.
Red Faction: Armageddon didn't really manage to stand out after being released last month. THQ shared its first quarter fiscal results today, and Armageddon's sales came in below expectations. As a result of its lack of success, the franchise doesn't sound like it has much of a future. CEO Brian Farrell talked about how the game didn't resonate with a "sufficiently broad console audience." THQ as a whole didn't do as well as it expected during its first quarter, with Farrell saying he was "disappointed." Unlike Homefront, which was considered "moderately successful" and will be seeing a sequel, THQ doesn't have much in the way of plans to move forward with Red Faction.

    Ultimate MVC3 originally DLC

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
Andriasang has now updated its story to add more detail. Producer Ryota Niitsuma said Capcom was planning on releasing download content for MVC3 following the game's March release. However, due to the earthquake and health issues, they changed this plan. The game we're getting in Ultimate has more content than was planned for the download content. ORIGINAL STORY:Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was originally planned as downloadable content for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, according to a new report. In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu (reported by Japanese website Game Jouhou, translated by Andriasang), Capcom said the decision to sell UMVC3 as a standalone budget game was made because of the March earthquake and tsunami disaster and staff health issues.

Ubisoft's "Always On" DRM Brought Back for Driver: San Francisco on PC

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
You'll need to be constantly connected to the Internet to play San Francisco on PC. PC gamers planning to pick up Driver: San Francisco will want to ensure they have a reliable Internet connection before doing so. Ubisoft has revealed the game will require a constant connection in order to play. The news was made official on the Driver Twitter account (via Eurogamer) yesterday. The console versions, meanwhile, will be the first Ubisoft games to be saddled with the new Uplay Passport, meaning a one-use code will be included with new copies that must be redeemed in order to access online multiplayer and other bonus features. The Passport can be purchased separately for $9.99. Driver isn't the first game Ubisoft has forced gamers to be online to play. It did the same with Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell:

Atlus Offers Free Soundtrack CD with Persona 2

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
Publisher encourages fans to pre-order due to limited supply
This is one of those pre-order pushes completely unlike the kind you get bullied into whenever you call up/walk into Gamestop. Persona 2: Innocent Sin ain't exactly Modern Warfare 3*as far as supplies go, and Atlus is offering free soundtrack CDs with every copy to sweeten the purchase.*As you can see from the image below, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin is a nice looking package. As the only entry in the Persona series never released outside of Japan, it's no doubt a highly coveted release for fans. The included mini-soundtrack CD features 10 tracks from the game's musical score.

Consoles count for half of Netflix traffic

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
In March of this year, a Nielsen survey ? historically used to poll the viewing habits of network television audiences ? was conducted regarding Netflix subscribers and their methods of accessing the service?s streaming movies and television shows. Surprisingly, to me at least, the results show that half of the audience got their Netflix fix via a gaming console of some sort.Through online interviews with over 12,000 members, the Nielsen survey found the Wii to be king of Netflix streaming, with 25 percent of respondents claiming to have used the console?s app. The PlayStation 3 was cited as the second most popular gaming console to watch on demand movies and TV through the streaming service, with 13 percent of those surveyed said to be using Sony?s console.

Street Fighter X Tekken using updated netcode

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
Fighting games, especially when taken online, can?t suffer lag in any form. If they do, they fall into oblivion and that?s that. So, to compensate for any latency experienced, Capcom for instance is using the GGPD (Good Game Peace Out) netcode, much to the criticism from players. However, the company?s upcoming competitive fighter Street Fighter X Tekkenwill in fact not be using that particular netcode, explained*producer Yoshinori Ono.?I can tell you officially were not using the actual GGPO [Good Game Peace Out] netcode that you know and love in its current form,? said Ono. ?I can also say it is not using the Street Fighter IVnetcode as is.?

Shadows of the Damned director starting fresh

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
Slow sales, or otherwise known as what may have been attributed as the primary reason for Shadows of the Damned director*Massimo Guarini leaving Grasshopper Manufacture, seems not to have been the case this time around. Due to personal reasons, Guarini left the company to pursue and face new goals and challenges, which include starting an independent studio, Ovosonico,*that will ultimately focus on more than just games.?My decision [to leave] Grasshopper has nothing to do with the low initial sales numbers of Shadows of the Damned,? said Guarini during an interview. ?Leaving Grasshopper has just been a consequence of some events and private reasons that led me and my family to consider moving back to our country.?

Madden NFL 12 demo hits August 9th

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
The Green Bay Packers might have defeated the Chicago Bears in real life, but we?re not here to pass judgement on the teams? performances, we?re here to manipulate them. And, with EA Sports announcing a Madden NFL 12demo coming to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network in a mere week and a half, we?re not far from being able to do that. The demo will pit the Packers against the Bears in an interactive 20-minute, four-quarter replay of what happened that fateful day. Bear in mind though that due to the recent NFL lockout, the rosters of both teams will be out of date. That said, EA Sports confirmed a launch-day patch will be in place to fix that.Madden NFL 12is set for late-August release on most consoles imaginable.

MX vs ATV experiment unsuccessful ? THQ

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
THQ?s clever plan to sell a game at a lower cost and drive sales through heaps of post-launch downloadable content has failed, the publisher?s admitted. The company released MX vs ATV Aliveearlier in the year at a budget price of $40, and while that approach did increase sales, it wasn?t enough to build a large enough userbase.?The key learning is that it was not a successful experiment,? according to CEO Brian Farrell.?Our takeaway there is it?s not a great model in the console market because with the high fixed cost of goods in the current console model, you can?t get the price low enough to drive that installed base out there to drive the DLC.?Farrell was talking on the publisher?s recent earnings call.

Battlefield 3 more compact on consoles

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
The scale of the maps of DICE?s upcoming war shooter Battlefield 3are promised to be huge. Considering the PC version of the game will pit 32 players against another set of 32 players (64 total for the less math savvy), that?s not entirely surprising; there?s got to be room for everybody. As for the console version, which will host 12 vs. 12 battles, not unlike Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the maps have been scaled down in order to accommodate 24 players in a better way, according to executive producer Patrick Bach.?We tried to get more players in [to the console version] but then you need to scale down all the graphics, scale down all the destructibility, and sometimes you need to scale down all the map sizes,? explained Bach. Basically, stripping what makes a Battlefieldgame, a Battlefieldgame.

    Gaming News that doesn't need a thread, Apr 20, 2011, 10:51 PM, YourPSHome.net, 2364
A game will, technically, hardly ever be perfect. Games will always thrill as much as they will disappoint. Square Enix knows this, and furthermore, acknowledges that Final Fantasy XIIIdid do the latter. The company is dead sure that Final Fantasy XIII-2?rectifies? those complaints.?Our ultimate goal is rectifying every single point in Final Fantasy XIIIthat has been criticized by users,? said game director Motomu Toriyama, referring to the complaints saying the game was too linear and the lack of cities and towns to explore.*?We actually took those criticisms very seriously, and you?ll notice we tackled them completely and thoroughly.
