I was wondering, instead of waiting forever for Home, why don't we all use the next best thing? We can create free Second Life accounts on our PCs. that way we can atleast hang out together in the cyberworld. Second Life is alot like Home. Runs on the PC. Is free to start, though you can upgrade to a paying membership for more features. But you don't need to. Second Life might be a good nicotine patch until Sony gets it's act together. I actually would do this myself if I didn't have so much work right now.
Great idea hey if you do look me up I'm a male Goth guy there my name is Nisroc1 gonna try to play today.
Of course, I went there just after outage of psn, but they told me "ur pc is poor for 2nd life" lol i went to the beach undre "poor" graphics, 2 guys help me there, how to chat or other behavs.
Sure, I'm up for a "PSN down" get together on SL. I started playing during the outage, and have a few items and fun locations I can share (username UltraSL). Games in SL really suck though; maybe we can get a few SL'ers to join Home Word of warning though, the interface is pretty daunting for those used to Home; It took me some time to get the hang of things, and I'm a techie. For example, your inventory is organized like folders and files on your hard drive. And new items are often in a "box" you need to extract like a .zip file before using. If you try to put it on before that you literally wear the box, lol. I also have a good CPU and video card (Q6700 and 5870) and the framerate still isn't great - had to bump quality down a notch.
The Wait for PS Home sure is hurting all of us for more than 3 weeks, but Second Life, even if it's something kinda similar to PS Home, is, by no means, PS Home, so no thanks, I'll keep waiting for PS Home.
Tried Second Life out once. It looks horribly outdated to me. And for some reason didn't run very well on my computer. Which is really weird because things that are far more complex run just fine.
I tried it, doesn't have the same feel as Home. PS Home has something about it, exactly what, I can't say, it's a special, one of a kind experience. One well worth waiting for.
Yeah, I'll pass. I tried SL. Not user friendly and, as Ultra pointed out, the framerate sucks. I've had users try to convinve me to stay there saying "It's more of an adult community than Home". Well, I'm here to tell you, that after trying it, while more "adult" things are allowed there, it still overflows with kids trying to pass themselves off as adults. I'll wait for Home's return.
