Hi all, First of all i would like to welcome you all back to YPSH, Right now the site is 'very' likely to give you some errors on some pages and doing some normal site tasks, If you get a error please report it in this thread. List what page the error was on, what you was doing, and copy any error message you got in full, this will help speed up the last stage of the site restore. So what happened to keep us down for so long? Basically on the morning of Sunday the 16th October the HDD in our server failed, this crashed the full server, so a new server was set up and the software installed. It was then that the crashed HDD was tired to be mounted on the new server as a second drive to let us be able to restore data from it. The problem was the old drive made the server unstable, so data restore was not going to work, after a number of trys and re installs it become clear that data from the old drive would not be able to get restored in full. So at this point i download as much data from the old HDD as i could to my Mac, the old drive was then removed from the server to make it stable again. After this i uploaded a month old backup of the sites to the server and restored that, but with a lovely community like this thats so active that means alot of data would have been lost, so the next stage was to use the data i had been able to copy from the old HDD and upload that. basically the up to date database had missing gaps and i have had to use a old backup to fill in the missing gaps.
Yeppie! Finally we are back. During Monday I thought I was ban from this site or my work ban me from using it, but eventually I found out from Recca (via email) that Carla is doing minor maintenance and then by Tuesday (yesterday) found out that the site is down due to server issue. I am really glad this forum is back online once again and it certainly feels like home (shelter) for us to gather while we are away from our PS3.
Great to see the site live again. I was afraid that someone had been super careless with a Move controller, and tripped and crashed into the server.... Oh sorry, wrong community forum! Nevermind :alien: Btw Carla, if you have to rebuild the database, does that mean that some stuff may have been lost? If so better call Google hotline 911, let's see how soon they'll be offering giga backup capacity that's saved offsite to cloud storage! :stretcher:
