Hey guys, I was wondering how you guys were enjoying DC U Online.

I thought the brainiac fight was interesting, it was a good intro to the game. Well at least the first wife's times I made a character. But then it was hard for me to adjust to the game. I thought the interface was difficult to manage at first. But now I'm doing well with it.

It kinda reminds me of when I started Home. Without friends, I didn't enjoy it as much. But now playing with a friend is a lot of fun.

The download took me a whopping 6 hours the first time. But there were a few additional downloads of updates which too more hours. There was also a huge queue to get in. Often I would see over 5000 users ahead of me. That took over 30 minutes to get into the game. But I did end up buying about $5 of stuff. That gave me an upgrade to premium membership (up from Free membership, but still below Legendary). That allowed me to skip the queue lines and get into the game immediately. It also allows me to have 3 more characters, with more inventory slots. I'm also allowed to send items between each player I own.

I also figured out finally how to chat. It's not as easy as Home. But you press Return on your USB keyboard before you start typing, then Press Return to actually say it. You have to do that for every line. You also have to be sending to the right channel, just like Home. Type /s to start saying things to the people nearby. Type /shout to send something to the entire instance. And /g is to switch to the group channel.

Dpad down gets you to emotes. And dpad left gets you to a list of your friends and others nearby.dpad up has some group functions, amount other things.

To actually find a friend is difficult. But first you have to add them to your friend list (dpad left and use the friends option). Then once they accept, you have to "phase" to them. That's like switching to the same instance. You don't actually move to their location. You are just on the same server now. But you still have to find them. Easiest way I've found is to dpad left, select friends, and their name, and start a group with them. If they are nearby, you will see a blue triangle pointing in their direction on your screen radar. If they aren't anywhere close, then you have to use the I game group channel(/g) or the xmb to send a message asking them where they are so you can travel to them.

If you need to switch from Metropolis to Gotham, you have to go into the police station and access the teleporter to the Watchtower orbiting station. That is if you are a hero. Villains have clubhouses in the cities that all have a teleporter to the hall of Doom. Either way, you need to find the teleporter that leads to the city you want to go to, and that can be confusing. The watchtower is a maze! Easy to get lost at first.

Anyways, that's a few basic pointers. I hope it helps!

Oh one more thing. Your inventory and what you wear can be confusing. Items that you find for your avatar have bonuses to your hit points, health, etc. But sometimes a item that is ugly has great bonuses.

Well the game allows you to wear something else but still get those great bonuses.

There is an inventory tab and a styles tab. Inventory tab lets you pick which items you will equip to give you stat bonuses. But once you pick out what to equip in inventory, you can go to styles tab to change which items others see you wearing. Technically you can equip an ugly shirt that has awesome strength bonuses, but in styles you can set it so everyone sees you in the good looking but low stat items.

And what is cool is the style tab remembers everything you have worn. So you can buy something, wear it once, then sell it back to the store. Even though you sold it, styles still allows you to wear it. (though you can't equip it in inventory since its gone)

The one kink to this is the hand items. It's glitchy. Sometimes you can't get style tab to function right. And sometimes the error causes you to lose the ability to use your weapon (though you can still punch with your fist). The solution this is to make sure you have a weapon equipped in inventory. Then select the hand item you want in styles, then look for the button on the style tab that says "reset". You may have to do this twice, but it will fix that error.

I've gotten into DCUO. Haven't upgraded yet but may if I can get more of my friends to play. I made a Hero and Villian to start so I can play through both scenerios. Definitely agree about feeling lost when I started. The trial mission teaches you controls but there is no info about how to interact with others and getting place to place takes time as the main world is quite big and open. I would recommend goiing to the wiki site which explains each character role and the different stats and skills available for each. Like most MMORPGs to be successful you need to modify your play based on the role you selected to begin with. Ex. If your a healer your role is to assist your members by healing them - you're not going to be much help if you're trying to maximize damage output since your role is suited for healing not damage. I like more melee type fighters so I choose a tank role. They also have a controller role which is suited to support your allies or weaken your enemies through buffs or penalties. Research the different roles and make a character that suites your playing style. I have a few friends that have invested time in the game like I have and the coop play is really fun. I've mostly stayed within the PVE area but for those who want to concentrate on PVP only and skip out on the story mission you have that option as well. I think this game has alot of potential to be good.

In the harder missions you really need to have a Tank and a Healer. Both when maxed out don't do much damage and aren't suppose to do much attacking. But my partner in DCUO really doesn't want to play like that. She wants to just have an all rounded character. the game though really likes teams of specialists once you are hitting the harder team missions.

I'm at Level 30. Alot of my missions now are solo only. But I always want to fight with friends. It's funner. Only the On Duty tab has multiplayer missions for me now. And most of those are VERY hard.
