Hi all,its nearly PS4 launch time and most of us are getting ready. However I'm confused, there have been statements saying that the PS4 will be region free. Now stay with me,this may sound stupid but are they implying that that the actual physical console is region free or the games?
I think they mean the games themselves. I mean, I play a japanese game on my NA PS3 system, and it still works. However regions would definitely have a different list of downloads of games and purchases on Home or the PSN Store. Also, you may not view TV, movies, or music under a PSN Store that's from another region than yours. In other words, whatever system you got from that country or here, that's what the main account will be. So viewing raw and exclusive japanese anime or TV drama will only be used on Japanese PS3 systems. Of course, those add-ons on those regions imply to those for the separately regioned-games themselves, like say you buy a japanese region Yakuza game, but the NA add-on from it won't work. So, I'm guessing the PS4 will do that using the same technology used for the PS3s.
A couple of days ago, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One would be delayed in eight out of 21 markets — Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland. While those regions should be familiar with getting shafted by the gaming industry since they aren’t the most major markets, this time around Microsoft has somewhat softened the blow. Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One games will be region-free.
