well i can't say for sure but i think it is cause they are semi public spaces. but that is me just guessing lol
I think you hit the nail on the head crow. The picture frames pull the images from your hdd. Clubs are stored on the public servers and I'm sure Sony doesn't want to have to add thousands of picture image files to them. Hopefully they will find a way to allow us to post at least something someday though. That big frame at the front of the club makes me think they had a idea for it at some point. Maybe if they could let us have a certain number of files stored on their server (like 1 to 3 image files) or use a hosting site like Photobucket or Flicker to host the image.
It would be interesting if you could use "approved" media that they provide, although I could see that turning into ads for the latest games or spaces. Still, it could be done right the same way they provide several photos when you first start using a frame in any apartment.
I'm sure sony don't want to store all those pictures. But I think it's because that clubspace was designed before the picture frames were invented. And well, we haven't seen any real update to the clubs since it launched. Though I like club channels.
Photo freams are P2P based and are hosted on the users PS3 and only get sent via the Sony server to the viewing users. So they would need to be hosted on the Sony servers for them to work, this would lead to legal problems and the need to have more mods to check no unfit images make it on to the system. It would also mean a recode of photo freams and the system, plus the needed mod tools. Has Home grows making edits like this becomes harder due to added work and checking you dont break other companys work.
