This week sees the release of two new updates in Home, the News Viewer and the Inspect Feature. News Viewer If you log in from today, you'll notice the start up for your Home screen is a little bit different. The News Viewer - the one-stop-shop for all the best stuff going on in Home and the Home community right now. Now as Home is loading you can now browse the latest news, watch some trailers or read articles about Home and what's new. If you see something you like, you can even jump straight there with the minimum of fuss. The News Viewer will be regularly updated with articles about the developers, as well as content you've made. We've been working with some well-known fan websites to bring you their articles, so that you can enjoy them directly in Home. The News Viewer brings you updates on the latest releases in Home, on PlayStation and some of the exciting content you have been making as part of the community. We will be adding new articles and exclusive content frequently, so check back regularly for the latest. In the coming months, we'll be expanding it with more and more dynamic content and features. You can access the News Viewer from anywhere in Home by selecting the 'News' link in the menu screen (press START to begin). Stay tuned for lots more updates in 2013. Inspect Feature This week sees also the launch of a new Inspect system in Home, allowing players to see what items other players are wearing and where they got them. So, if you spot someone wearing a great outfit or using an awesome portable item you can quickly and easily find out more about them. To use the feature simply walk up to the player you wish to inspect, select them and choose the Inspect option from the menu. This will bring up a screen showing your avatar and a list of all the items the other player is currently wearing or using. You can see details on the item, whether it is a reward or purchasable and where it can be acquired. If it is an item of clothing then you can also preview how it would look on your avatar and, if it is purchasable, you will be able to directly purchase the item from the Inspect screen.
this is a greate feature,its so hard to get info from players that refuse to talk or respond to simple questions.
It's nice that they're trying. the news viewer will be updated regularly , we all know about that one, how many home features, moon base, star wars cantina, the list could go on. when I saw the news thing, home was already up, took a few presses to realise that circle takes you out of that screen and into the main menu area. I think it's good that we're not just dumped in home square, that was a smart move, helps them save memory, (read Game Mechanics article that they tweeted about), The see info thing could be useful, but it's a bitcreepy, scouring for what have people been buying some people are trolls, some want to get on with their own thing & some are really sweet and happy to have a little chat. But most people don't have a keyboard and elect not to use mic, so communication is slow and clumsy, and that can easily lead to missunderstandings. They did well with having preset greetings in the chat menu. oh dear I do struggle to stay on the subject, . it's nice when they try and we hope they try some more.
Hoping to see YPSH articles feature in the news viewer ;D Inspect feature I'm personally unlikely to use often but can see it being helpful from time to time.
that can definitely be useful in the future. it caught me by surprise when i hopped onto EU Home this morning after maintenance. i shall definitely keep an eye on it when i do get onto EU Home and see what is up.
