We all know that PlayStation Home will close on the 31st of March, and with that news Home Dev Madmunki set about trying to bring a new "Home" to the PS4, this was no small task to try and take on and after missing out on the Kickstarter total that task only got even harder. After many months of endless sleepless nights trying to bring Neotopia to life, Dave of Madmunki as posted the following blog post. One can not deny that the task of remaking something that cost millions and with a staff size near on 100, that trying to pull it off with very limited funds and limited staff would be very hard work and we would like to thank Dave & all of Madmunki for giving up so much time and sleep to try and bring this to life for the community, so Thank you.
Sounds familiar Yes, as I said Dave is to be given a huge thanks by all of us for his dedicated hard work. He gave it his best shot. That's all anyone could ask for. He spent many a sleepless night trying to code neotopia while trying to do other things to pay the bills. Plus he didn't just talk about Home, he USED Home. He had the passion rarely seen. While I am sad to see neotopia come to an end, I can only hope Dave doesn't disappear from the scene. People like him are hard to find.
Atom Republic's answer looks horrid. I don't know a single person who is interested in it, and it's a huge fail to do a theme park inspired space *cough boardwalk cough cough*. My money is on Project Nebula at this point. Best looking content to show and the only ones who seem to have actually made some progress and intelligent choices so far. It sucks to see anyone try and fail so I do feel badly for the Neo team, but they had some things that I think they did wrong from the get-go that shot themselves in the foot. I wish them all the best on finding a new project that will pay them a living wage.
That really sucks...I had such high hopes for Neotopia...but I'm not altogether surprised as because they had such a hard time getting funding. Still...I'm sad that it's gone. But there will be others...
Neotopia to realize his wish that it is so expensive in Neotopia you might ask for money in Europe dollar for us Europeans, it is too expensive you would, or could find a solution because the Europeans could help you more and would Neotopia was on foot very quickly
or you could simply buy the home on ps3, and tranform on its ps4.comme everyone was a winner people would have a lot more money. Scalded cat fears cold water. (Just a French saying)
the problem is , sony doesn't wanna sell the playstation-home at the 1st place. b'cos there was developers was talking to sony, and they want to buy ps-home, but sony reject them.
Sorry, but if Atom Universe is the only virtual world available on the PS4, I will go virtual world-less. I just wasn't impressed with the video I saw of it. The comparisons with Home would always be there for me.....and it aint no Home. lol I know Home was the first virtual world that I ever tried and probably the last. Even with all of its flaws, mistakes, misfires, idiots and poor management, there will never be anything like Home again....and I rarely say never. I wish madmunki all the best with their future endeavors.
Still got KovoK and Digital Leisure plans @HOPPER_34 with The Four Kings up and running in beta on PC & Mac right now to get it all working before they port to PS4.
True CB, but I just can't see a small developer like KovoK pulling off a virtual world and I doubt I'll use anything casino related by Digital Leisure.
I would probably go to Four Kings, if nothing else. The Atom Republic world was good, but nothing like added enthusiasm that'll brighten up my mind. If Granzella made their own VR world, it would be mind blowing and enough to get a PS4 and go there instead.
