Came across this over at IGN saying Hudson Entertainment is closing. Would this mean that the Hudson Gate and more importantly the Dolphy races will eventually go along with it? Hudson Entertainment is No More - Wii News at IGN
Agreed. Guess I better hurry up and get those remaining super fish for that hat, votes for effects, and see if I can finally get 10 star wins. Lots to do...
Well the way we can't get into Race and the Hacking that is going on in that Space. I quit going there month's ago. Sure i miss it but unless it gets fixed then i won't at this point. Broken spaces need to be fixed but they ignore us.
I'm really saddened by this. When the Hudson dolphy space first entered Home in Japan I bought it the first day partly because I assumed it would never get to the other regions. Happily I was wrong. But reading this has me thinking the days really were numbered. In that link above they say they're going to focus more on social games. Well home is a social medium so maybe Hudson will continue providing SCEJ new spaces. I can't help but think the reason they're dissolving here in the USA is partly due to the glut of FPS games. It seems the only games that sell big in the USA are those bang bang games. FPS have essentially monopolized the market, they have the big selling numbers and the quirky, non-bang-bang games are going to become fewer and rarer, as they already have really. Maybe if I was a fan of FPSers these would be the glory days. Boo hoo for sure.
If we get a message that says the Hudson space(s) will be "going down for maintenance until further notice" then we will know what is happening. lol (Hey Trillian-I am picadilly68 in EU and was talking to you there earlier. I wasnt too enthused about hanging out with those hackers that were there though. I sure wish Sony would get it together and protect their servers. To each their own I guess, but I dont think that person will last long if they do succeed in hacking in the Ironman suit like he/she was talking about).
well i saw a tweet that said Konami would be taking over the hudson stuff. Not sure that applies to North America. CadeRageous Cade @Jersquall Sorry, I meant North American Hudson. Yes, Konami is handling all their content released here going forward.
Hudson Entertainment was the NA branch. That branch is being shut down. Hudson Soft is the Japanese branch that will continue. I tend to agree the v_Trillian_v, that this won't necessarily impact the presence of Hudson Soft in PlayStation Home.
At first I was panicking, but after reading all that... yeah, I think we'll still see the Hudson stuff no problem; it'll just be a branch of Konami now, not unlike, say, Intelligent Systems (Fire Emblem) being a branch of Nintendo. Hudson Gate itself should be fine.
Well I'll be, it's you Hopper lol. Yeah, that one girl was clearly a hacker, but that one guy was my friend and he's not a hacker. I wasn't hanging out with any hackers! I had went to see him and she was there. She's the reason I didn't want to stay myself and left so abruptly. Whatever credibility I have is in danger around that type of person. People start thinking I didn't get the high scores in Dragon's Green by my own efforts, things like that. Sorry but that matters to some of us. I've put some effort into some of these Home games, tried my best and I can only hope the others play fair too. You read me telling them about my Iron Man friends? One of the Iron Man winners mentioned how some of his fellow top 10 winners of that awesome outfit don't dare wear it, for fear of being reported and banned! Serious. It's apparently happened to a couple of them. Not a permanent ban, but some type nonetheless. So that girl is casually going to put that outfit on? Maddening. I left so quickly because I wasn't going to embarrass my own friend by lashing out at her, though I told her what she was doing was extremely dangerous before I had left. And I PMd him saying it's probably not a good idea to hang around with her. This on top of reading recently about the Hudson space cheating. Been very frustrating. I might have stopped racing in EU altogether, but when I do race I'm hoping to see some of these people racing over and over, and reporting them. I'm not perfect, but this stuff just isn't right. Ugh. I so hope so Aeternitas
Hope your right Aeter. I'm here looking at the Hudson spaces now and looking at the company under the space name I see Hudson Entertainment, Inc. So I hope your right and Hudson Soft will continue it if not Konami.
Well, it's going to say Hudson Entertainment, because that's the NA branch that did the localization for NA. That's how the game industry works. In the future, if Hudson Soft continues to release new content for the Japan Home, I suppose Konami will be doing the localizations.
