Hey! The demo just hit the PSN store in NA!

I got to sample it and wow! It was stunningly gorgeous. This demo definitely had eye candy for the...well, eyes. It was beautiful. The graphics to me felt a tad better than FFX13.

When the game starts, you can see that this is chapter 2 in the game. You have no idea what happened before. But you start with Lightning's sister, Serah, and a new male character. You control him, but you can switch and have Serah lead the party.

First off, let me say that I needed to make a few changes to the settings. I think the camera was making me feel queasy, so I lowered the camera sensitivity to the lowest setting, and that helped a lot. I wish it could go lower, but this was good. Also it helps to allow the minimap to rotate so it follows where you are looking. That really helped me keep my bearings.

The game plays a lot like the original game. But you only have two players. The third spot in the party is taken up by enemies that you capture. Like Pokemon. You capture a creature, and put it to work. This added a lot to the game. You can hunt down a variety of animals. Plus, as you fight, some of the rewards can be used to level up the animals. But you have to chose which one to spend your loot on. This adds alot to one of the weak points of the original game, which was the horribly boring and tedious random battles. Now, you get an immediate payoff for farming. You can also choose the name of your new pets from a huge list of names. I found a huge saber tooth like creature and named him after my old doggy. That was a lot of fun to battle with "Pokemon"

The game was confusing at first. It throws a flood of info at you, and there is a lot to learn. But I did enjoy this a lot. I think I will definitely get this when it comes out. (and it's RARE that I buy games the first week out).

Btw, the demo don't let you save. And you are going to have a hell of a time with a big boss battle. I couldn't pass it. At least not the first time through. Even finding a crystal in the cave to weaken it didn't help. It's too strong. If anyone has advice how to kill it, please post some advice. I sure could use it.

But anyways, give it a try, and let me know what you think!

The public opinion from those that played the Japan version seems to be that FF13-2 is FF13 done the right way. A few down side is that it was created more based on the Xbox 360 so the PS3 version lost alot of the technical advantage it had in FF13 (slower loading, minor graphic degrade from PS3 FF13). Another reason of the graphic degrade also comes from using more real time render compared to the pre-rendered for FF13.

Also, the majority didn't like 1 thing but it's going to be spoilers, so I'm not going to talk further about it.

FF12 does have a sequel. It's called Revnant Wings and it plays on the Nintendo handheld. The visual quality is very nintendo cartoony old school. But it's the same characters. And the cutscenes are nice. :)

Woah, really? I never even knew that lol. Probably since it's a hand held :(

Actually, I enjoyed FFX-2 a lot....FF13-2 looks okay too. I'll have to look into this :right:

You can probably find a good amount of cutscenes from Revnant Wings on YouTube. A couple of games which I wanted to see, but never got were there. I saw dirge of Cerberus on YouTube. There's always some fanboy that has to put up everything.

I never got too far on Revnant Wings. There was this one section where you had to sneak through an enemy camp undetected. And you HAD to do it. Otherwise they would swamp you and kill ya. But some of the sentries were INVISIBLE! Yeah.... Right....

    Never got passed that point.....lol

There is only a few days left for pre-order bonuses. And I found a webpage that lists the different items.

    FINAL FANTASY XIII-2

I would like to get Serah a new bow and outfit. But they only sell collector editions at Gamestop. Plus I've heard bad things about Gamestop. The Best Buy's "novella" is a preorder-only book. Enh. Walmart's poster is worse.

So I guess it's amazon for me. Omega, here I come!

    :)

btw this was a reward from a contest. Its pretty cute!

Heh, I suppose I should pre-order but then again I'm what you call "lazy". So I think I'll just pick it up when it's out. Would go for the Best Buy one though mainly because I'm a sucker for books, that and I like having Best Buy reward points =p.

Cute PS3 and 360. But if I ever had one it would never be opened. Collector stuff like this I wouldn't use for regular play.

I normally would like to wait for a price drop. I usually only play a game just once. (With the exception of DCUO and Home) So for one play, $60 is a bit much.

But Amazon is offering a $10 credit on future purchases if you preOrder from them. :)

OMG, where do I get a MOG PS3! That is soo cute!

and $10 credit is better than any pre-order. I read somewhere that Lightning will be available as DLC to "beat" and add to your arsenal of monsters. Seems kinda odd, I thought she would be in the game. I'm not sold on Serah and Noel yet. Seems to me like they took the most annoying features of Vanille and Hope and amplified them into these new characters.

I only played FF13 once, but it took me about 250 hours to platinum it. It got better after the storyline ended. I still have no idea what was happening in that story.

The monster hunting aspect sounds really cool. Reminds me of Final Fantasy VI. The character Gau could jump on creatures in The Veldt and he would learn their attributes. When he came back, he could emulate these monsters. With the right one, he was a very powerful character!

Hmm...True. RPG games nowadays that I play are usually good for one run due to me having other things to do(like work). I would wait, but I don't know, the appeal of it being a Final Fantasy is more than enough to get me sold(no matter if it's good or bad).

The monster hunting aspect the way I interpret it at first and the idea that you only get to use Serah and Noel as main characters reminded me way to much of Tales of Symphonia 2. I think that alone gave me a bad taste in my mouth when I first heard of that system being implemented on this game. Then again lots of things went wrong with ToS2 so here's hoping I'm wrong.

Woot. Got the pre-order bonus with FFXIII-2 at Best Buy and I didn't even pre-order. Just saw it on the shelves and picked it up.

congratulations!!! I just got the preOrder too from amazon. Got my code for $10 back. But I can't add it until my next order. DAMN. Also not sure how to unlock the presale item in the game....

BTW, BE CAREFUL OF SCAMS!!! There's a FFXII-2 DLC MALWARE out!!! Webpages that promise to give you the DLC for the game, but contain MALWARE! VIRUSES! TROJANS! and all that other crap that the owners should be castrated for!

    Be careful.

    :)

DLC malware. Huh. Never heard that before. That's why I just get stuff off psn or redeem codes.

Question though, not sure if anyone has tried it. I noticed that the JPN PSN store has the amazon and gamestop pre-order items for sale. If I were to purchase them, do they work for my NA copy of FFXIII-2/account? Or is the DLC region locked.

I loved the demo! Before, I had Final Fantasy XIII and I really didn't play it as much, considering I had trouble on most boss fights.
But, the demo was amazing! Even though I never got a real introductory to the new male character, Noel, he's pretty kick-butt, lolol. :armes09:

Also, seeing Serah in the game as a playable character was cool. Graphics are top notch, as always. Combat was good, but I found it a pain to be pressing tons of buttons. But, what do you expect when you play a Final Fantasy game? xD

Overall, 10/10. <333 Long live Final Fantasy.
