    Hi everyone!,

Just a note to those of you who might have not taken the time to back up your avatar/home files. I know yesterday morning I was disturbed when I logged into Hong Kong and found that my Home Settings file was corrupted and that it needed to be replaced. When that happened it essentially required that I redo my entire avatar given I had to start off with a default male one and I wasn't very happy to say the least.

Anyhoo I had backed up all my North American files digitally but those files are different for all regions. I did take the time yesterday to take images of all my settings in North America using my digital camera. I then used those images to redo my avatar. I've since uploaded my settings pics to Flickr (for my eyes only Back up those Avatar Files!, Jan 9, 2011, 4:50 PM, YourPSHome.net, 1466 ) so I have a permanent record of them in case it ever happens again and for whatever reason my digital file might not work.

Just a thought. Could be depressing if you have to ever replace that file and you have never taken the time to back it up

How you do edit pic sizes. I'm dragging handles to re-size but when I save it doesn't appear to be working.

Note: Frustrating that resizing doesn't stay when I hit save just after the editing process. What do I do to get that to work?

When Home went from 0.98 to 1.0 we lost our looks because they edited the system and old saves no longer worked, same with matching settings.

So i had to totally redo my av and it really was a hard task of doing little fine edits, i would defo take a good and clear close up image of your face also just incase they ever edit the system again.

on the editer you should see a pen icon on mouse over of the images to click on, lets you edit image info then. Going do a few vids soon of basic forum how to's.

Edit: i see you have linked to them and not uploaded from pc/mac.

Using your digital camera to take pics of your settings is a great idea. I did that last year just in case. Has come in handy more than once. I also make a "dummy" acct on my ps3 just for backup purposes.

Let's take my EU acct, kwoman32-uk. I make a new acct called "backup-uk". Then I log into kwoman32-uk acct and go to Saved Data Utility folder (under Games on XMB) and copy all files to the backup-uk acct. It's slow, because you have to do them one at a time. But for me, it's been a life-saver. If a file gets corrupted, I just delete it and sign in to the backup acct and copy it back.

Yes I linked to them. This post is really just a copy paste of the same post I made to The Ladies Fashion Runway a bit earlier today.

    :p

Yes I do. I see it gives me different options relative to sizes but when I select them I don't really see the new size displayed. Is it possible to put in pixel dimensions for a pic similar to the way we could at Lithium? This format looks a bit like the EU boards where you can pic from certain sizes.

I just did an edit using the medium one – second from left option – I believe and it worked.

Can not set it to set sizes, inless i turn html on whats a riskly thing to do on a forum. I know the editer shows you can drag resize images, but that settings not saved. Going look into if theres aby way to make it so it does without turning html on.

I wasn't smart to back up my files before they got corrupt. Recently on my NA account, I'm not sure exactly how it happened but my Home settings filed became corrupted and in order to even use Home I had to delete that settings file. Not only did I have to go through the Home tutorial again, I had to recreate all of my avatars that I had saved for a year and a half :( on top of that, my wardrobe items got mixed up with storage items, as well as furniture items getting mixed with furniture storage items, took the time to reorganize all of those again. It was a nightmare...lesson learned, I'll have to back up my saves next time.

Ok I'm confused lol. First let me say that i have photo backups for my avatar that i also used for my JP account, even though the settings for Jaw etc aren't easy to get exact. They really need numbers for the grid so we can be exact.

Anyways, I back up all my home settings however i didn't know there was one specifically for the avatar. Or is it just within the Home: Settings save file. Must be it.

it is apart of the settings save file. so if something happens to it, it is kinda like starting of over other than that you will still have all your spaces, cloths, and furniture that you have bought or won. (thank goodness that is on the home servers lol )

Yeah that's what I thought. I've been backing those up those forever. I just needed clarification. It almost sounded like Jo was talking about a specific save for Avatars. I have a bad habit of double checking things :p. It has a tendency to make people think I'm dense.

you guys probably all noticed your saved files go inside a folder called SAVEDATA which is inside a folder called PS3 on your USB drive.

If you change the filename of the folders, it becomes invisible to the PS3. So inside my PS3 folder on my USB drive I have:

    SAVEDATA-Firefly
    SAVEDATA-Hotaru
    SAVEDATA-Argenthawke
    etc.

It's a fast easy way to store all your saved data from all regions in one place. And if I want to reload my save files, I just delete the part of the filename I added.

I also change the name on individual files incase I want to store more than one save file in a folder. That way I can have more than 9 avatar saves, or multiple decorations of one apartment.
