I found this response interesting by Muster Buster over on the EU Forums. Have a look. Looks like the home managers have requested avatar blocking – making an avatar invisible as a feature request. Good find Jo for letting us know about it from the EU HOME forum. I just hope NA HOME forum would take note no this function and implement it.
Thank you, MusterBuster. I've read Carla's concerns, but I think the feature is needed as a line of last resort. Personally, I would never block someone without reporting them first. I just think that would be irresponsible. But I do like her idea of the block feature being limited to one session only. And one unintended positive, it would be easier to take photoshoots and videoshoots. For example, that annoying person who showed up while you were shooting a photo with Hopper could have easily been blocked if he had refused to move or leave. I'm glad to see that the EU Home, at least, is getting the message that Home is a social application as well as a gaming platform and needs effective solutions to persistent griefers.
Has i said before, i personally don't like it. The community for most parts can already be a split and unwelcome place for new users to meet new people i can see this making that even hardly. Deal with the problem users in the right way and make home better for all, not cover them up with a new system. PS all MB is doing is, is job btw to say he has forwarded the idea it does not mean anything really is comment.
It seems that Home mods and managers don't have the desire or the metal to "deal with users in the right way." Sony shows great reluctance to police it's paying customers (which reduces profits). There's a huge conflict of interest. So I don't see alot of help coming from the only people who can enforce Home. And besides, people that are quick to block out strangers, probably aren't the best for a Noobie to meet first. The ones that stay visible to strangers might be more apt to be friendly. So this may filter out some and leave the friendlier people for the noobie. I also believe that by making it harder for harassers to harass others, you will curb that behavior. It won't be as fun for the jerk if he has no targets to harass.. And they will get bored and there will be less rude behavior in Home. Less rudeness will make Home a more welcoming environment. And that might make people less jaded about people in default clothes, and you may even see Home become a more welcoming place for Newbies.
I love newbies. I actually enjoy answerring questions and helping people. I wouldn't mind being able to not see all the idiots hitting on women on home, though. lol
