Got another update from PlayStation that it is now up in California, but the map hasn't been updated yet.

Same here James. But still this is a most excellent news. And here I thought it would be til the 31st.

 

PSN service now restoring in U.S. Southeast: Play On FL, GA, MD, NC, SC and more to come.

When Sony mentioned May 31st, it was for when ALL PSN services would be FULLY restored. But before then they were going to restore some services like online gaming, PS Home, etc. The PS Store won't be available today and that is one of the things that will take until 5/31.
