After the sad news home is going to be no more, I have to say I think sonys coming out it the worst. I've got my friends and memories, most developers seem to be coming out of it ok money wise and reputation wise. But Sony who put money into the development of home, then were commissioning free spaces and stuff to do right up to last year. The little paid marketing home had, the main maintenance, all this came out of homes bottom line profit. Or lack of profit of course. Developers tried to make stuff a success as well but most failed to make money out of spaces like mercia etc. but they just went back to making apartments, LMOs and clothes. Sony didn't have that option. Yeah there's been some major errors but it was the first time this sort of thing had been tried on a console and if it was doomed to fail from day one sometimes whatever decisions that are made are going to end up wrong. It would like trying to sell I love england t shirts in Scotland, no one else has done it or doing it but don't matter what way you look at it, it isn't a great business decision. But once you started you have to try and make it a success. Then for something that's losing money it's been around longer than some real big name games. I could of spent money on 7 need for speed games for a start lol. Ultimately home could never get enough users to make money why? Well hopefully the developers that are going to try on they own will of worked it out. But looking at Lockwood who were made by home the first thing they did was to try and make a social mmo a success is let's get it off a console and onto tablets.

Incidentally the terms of service say 90 days is the notice period required to close a game server. We were just given 180 days.

Still very sad news, But folks need to move on. Though friends told me of a rumor for the final day of home apparently "Central plaza" might return for one day only for all of us to gather and say our good byes.

Off topic but seems like heavy water is having heavy issues. The web sites linked to heavy water are now all unobtainable. There's been no updates to social media. This includes they axis game creator sites and the parent company site. The only thing I can see find news wise is an ex employee that says the CEO is a tyrant and they pay crap lol

Ok?? So I guess I really got ur nerves for some reason seeing as you felt it important to reply to my quote twice. Your 1st reply was "Ofc I understand upgrades are neccessary, but your reply wasn't. I was pointing out that it is the upgrades that keep the industry alive and keep us spending money and keep us loyal(whether we want to be or not). I never mentioned a PS6 lol. So move along troll. attachFull41677" that was all you needed, I even replied saying I'm glad to hear you didn't actually believe that. My reply to ur original quote was. B/c it's not some trick to steal ur money as u were suggesting. Anyway if u want to think lim troll that's your opinion but ur the one replying to the Same quote twice? As for Home don't assume u know how I played in home or how I post just b/c ur mad I mistook ur quote. I meet a lot of great ppl in Home and have a lot of fond memories of it especially japan home.

There was a mmo called city of heroes, this mmo had everything an add game called city of villans, dlc, virtual items and subscription fees, it lasted 8 years. The parent company decided to close the mmo down this included the company formed to run this mmo. They got 90 days and nothing back except memories. The Internet has got quite a few stories of the same thing and there isn't many that have lasted as long as home has. Second is the oldest and probably the most successful but it looks and feels old. There will be a point soon where a decision will have to be made there. But it's advantage it's massive and no other mmo has tried the size and scope of second life. So is has no competition either. But it makes money. Home never tried anything like this before on a console, but it loses money. But who is to say the next generation of home like applications would go out there and be great on what has been learnt from home. I have noticed a few home users migrating to avakin already.

Well, I suppose I won't be going onto Home anymore, and even though I plan yo get a PS4 I am NEVER spending money on that "PSNow" service as I hate the idea of game streaming, Home and MMOs being an exception, but my internet has acted up and cut out before, so I'm not about to trust a rental service like that.

And if this Neotopia thing is what I think people are saying it is, I hope it pans out too.

I was really hoping we would see Home on the PS4 too...

    See.... of all the Devs...

Granzella, we like them, they're kooky
nDreams well, as a trusted bussiness model
    Veemee I like sometimes

So if any of these wanted to make a new home....

Well, if Veemee want to make a new home, then I would hope they would take some other devs on too, even if it were on a casual basis, veemee do quite well, but they would really need some "flavour" from other devs IMHO, rather than "Veemee world".

I think platform is important too

I avoided ps2 and from my experience of gaming on ps3 I have no interest in getting a ps4.

Microsocft and Apple disguise it and kid yourself as you like, they are (Edited out my opinion of these companies is not in any way pleasant)

So then we have linux, google and android.

Linux, well, I don't get pc's I've found them useless, needy, rude, overpriced and out of date in 6 months.

Google.... well.... really? haha I bought music from Google play, avoiding amazon & iTunes, Google for me are the lesser of 3 evils.

But having said that, google is empowering and mostly it works, and when it fails it does the smart thing it puts it's hands up, says wait I failed a bit and then it tries again (At this point an apple computer tells you you did the wrong thing, micrisoft tells you wahhh, we don't have a clue what happened, let me check your computer for 5 hours)

    Android... owned by google...

So, if I heard correctly about veemee going to android then that's the platform I'd trust (Trust is relative)

When I first heard the news I was shocked. I shouldn"t have been, I knew it was coming. I mean... all those sales worried me and the lack of people that I saw on Home. Yes I knew it was on its way into just becoming a memory, but I was still shocked to hear it. It was the finality that did it and it came with a deadline. Then something strange came to mind. I felt that I was to blame. I know... I know... but that was what I had felt, I didn't buy enough or gift enough to keep home going. Yup stupid thoughts. From the start I knew that Home needed revenue to keep it going. So I bought and bought and gifted for those that couldn't but still loved and needed Home. Took me a few days to come to terms with my thoughtsand realized that wasn't the only problem so I avoided Home. I just couldn't hear my friends sounding so sad and I just couldn't deal with it. I'm better now I faced a few truths about Home. Home was always about money and rightly so. It was a business and it was managed wrong from the start. Started off with gamers in mind but evolved into something totally different. A community of users that formed a bond. How strong a community shows now, now that Home will soon no longer exist, people have rallied together. I am and always be a gamer but I am so proud to have been part of the Home community. And I haven't regretted a penny that I spent or gifted. Now I look to the future.

I want to thank Carla for giving me a voice here on the # 1 site for Home. This site will go on because we're not done yet. As for Karen, what can I say? A friend that was informative and funny. She knows a lot. Both Carla and Karen have done a great job at this site along with Vicky and Kia. I am truly honored to have them all on my friends list.

For those of you that don't know... my name is Hope, and there is hope for the future. A better Home is awaiting us. Yup there's a but coming... but it needs funding. Neotopia could be what we have all dreamed about. Utilizing the real engine 4 and the power of the ps4 it will blow us away. However like I said, without funding we may never see it. It will be up to everyone where they will end up after Home shuts down but the best bet is to look to the future with Neotopia. Hope to see you there.

Do we know whether player inspect will work after new content stops publishing?

Only if the shop items are closed down, the inspect option will cease to function. I tried doing that under my Japanese account inspecting other Japanese users under Japan Home's shop items were removed before, but it was useless. :(

You have enough time to use inspect now AND through the cease update days until the day when they'll remove all Home shop item content.

By the way, I've mentioned this in chat earlier, but I was away and didn't know who answered but: What company or companies and VR world(s) would you go for on the PS4 - Hellfire, Madmunki, or Veemee? I'm curious because Madmunki hasn't been pushing donations - still at 4%, and there's no word yet if Hellfire and Veemee's creations are worth going into - yet Hellfire is still developing "Home Tycoon" space, and yet most people don't like making a Home Tycoon gameplay out of it.

Tempest said the same thing earlier today on ps.com. Oh well, I suppose gifting is out too.

If gifting requires tokens/tickets or any in-game purchases, I suggest you buy whatever you can - even if it's in a different region and want to gift yourself. Using 3D Printer, GZ Gift machine, Lockwood gift machine, and Hellfire's Giftinator 9000 would require buying in-game purchases - however GZ and Lockwood's machines will make you get a friend or your other regional self to buy an item and sent it to you directly.

It appears that the only way people will be able to get new items after the store closes is through the rewards server. Eve, player inspect will cease to work.

That's correct. Playing any PSN game or any Home spaces that'll give out rewards will work.
