The following is the main updates coming to Home with 1.86 this Wed, A full list of trophies will come at some point on Wed, but for now please feel free to post your ideas for Home trophies. Trophies Trophies have been added to PlayStation Home. Some users may find they earn trophies when first logging in after the patch. The list of available trophies can be found within the Trophy Collection option on the XMB. Mute An option has been added to mute sounds made by other players' portables. This option can be found in the Portable Item Settings menu on the Safe Screen. The safe screen can be accessed at any time by pressing Select. Bug Fixes A number of bug fixes and general stability improvements have been made.
1. Trophies Personally I find this silly and worthless. Maybe if they did this 3 years ago, but certainly not when Home is dying. Exactly what is the point? 2. Mute Yawn. 3. Bug Fixes I've heard this before, We shall see.
Trophies is a "Hey trophy whores come use Home for 1 week to get some trophies and then go again". Most that use Home could likely not care less about Trophies, when the day to day use of Home is so slow and broke with some spaces never being finished after years, and the content lacking in fresh new ideas. Mute, this i don't understand, I'm sure when sound was added to Portables, they said sound was only local to the owner, so why the need for a mute, when we don't hear other peoples anyway, or is this a sign they plan on making sound public what will likely make more lag and slow speeds. Bugs = Fix the stuff we broke by fixing the last stuff we broke before that.
What's the point of this patch? I find it quite pointless, especially since the future of Home is unclear.
6 years after teasing trophies for Home, they Finally get around to it. 6 years too late I say. although, I am slightly intrigued by how they'll implement this after so long without it.
It's another cheap way of getting users to visit home. Can see the trophy that says ive used 7 days in succession or I own 20 spaces. Challenges are the same, take a load of items that were binned at some point because they probably wouldnt sell and make them prizes for challenges that may ruin the spaces they are associated with. Lockwood life looks the same, spend time going to dream estates, to win reskinned gift machine items. This is the year of how many ideas can we come up with, that involves using old spaces so we don't have to make any new spaces. It's called being cost effective. Going to have to do loads better than this for most users to keep them interested. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
Having only used Home for challenges recently (which looking at it now seems huge waste of time being that I'm not on Home using the gained rewards ) Trophies might get me back in for a few minutes. Pretty sure Sony said a while ago that Home couldn't get trophy support because their own rules state they can only be added to paid games, so I assume these trophies will only be obtainable by playing games in Home which cost money to play.
Home is on PS3. PS3 is a gaming console, & it is my opinion that it is wasted on "Gamers", as is Home. But reality is reality. PS3 has a trophy system, so why not Home. Mostly I find that I can ignore trophies, or.... for LBP, or for Beatles Rock Band, thats about it for me taking notice of trophies. If Home trophies are in the background, then there's no problem. We hope trophies don't impact on loading times, on Home working. Home is in early enough days, right now, they made that speech, they said "We have to see what worked, what didn't work", so they're gonna. Put all the ideas out there, anything there is, & then collate stats & then know; A) is it worth putting Home on PS4 B) What Home features to put onto a PS4 version of Home.
Or its panic because so many users aren't using home as often now. Im down to once a week and buying nothing. And only go on to feed my fish. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
I don't really care about trophies in Home one way or the other. In fact, anything that adds to the Home experience is a welcome addition whether I like it or not. That's not my problem with this. My problem with this is adding this now is a real slap in the face and an insult to those of us who have supported Home for the last seven years and put up with the many errors and bugs in Home. Instead of using the time and money to fix some of those problems, they choose to add trophies. Adding it now, when Home's future is being kept a secret, makes it a harsh pill to swallow. Either way the timing is horrible. If Home is to be ending soon, it would be nice if Sony cared about its loyal, long time users and made our last experiences a little smoother at long last. If Home isn't ending, why add this now instead of making Home a more pleasant experience by fixing some of its ills? Wouldn't that attract more people to come back to Home and use it rather than adding useless trophies?
Thats what I want, but the need for items to purchase and rewards has been so over egged for years. I think developers now believe quantity is king not quality. The amount of woots and I'll buy thats for some of the worst things on home has got ridiculous. The suffering users go through for a virtual ornament would be laughable, if we all hadn't suffered it. This makes sense. Singstar is a free app on the XMB. Trophies unlock when you buy 10 songs from the store.
The idea of trophies on Home is asinine at best. It's a social platform with mini-games in it, it's not a game in and of itself. My fears are that this will bring trophy hunters to Home, which will only add more lag to already stressed and seemingly broken servers. If the gamers who don't want to use Home because it's not their thing aren't interested, then why attempt to bring them in at all (if in fact this is what this is about)? I mean, it's not like they are going to come on for their trophies and suddenly think that Home is better than it was the last time they weren't interested in being on a virtual social network for gamers... is it? I definitely don't think they're going to start supporting Home by buying any content either, though I'll admit it may affect a very small percentage of them. I say we just keep this all on the down-lo so that trophy whore's don't find out we have shiny's for them now. I'm really really confused as to what Sony's intent is with adding trophies. It just makes zero sense to me.
Thats an issue, lets bring trophy hunters to increase user numbers so they can ridicule regular home users. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
