A friend just forwarded some information to me. He tells me hackers have a new way to hurt you. By forming a group with you, they can access information that allow them to directly attack your IP address and briefly shut down your internet service. BE CAREFUL WHEN ACCEPTING GROUP WITH RANDOM STRANGERS!!
This is true. It is possible to obtain the IP addresses of group members on Home; but there's nothing much that can be done with it. It's possible but unlikely that they will be able to shut down your internet service. It really depends on how you connect to the internet. Bottom line is make sure your network firewall is on (preferably at the gateway too) and you shouldn't have a problem.
If you're a bit dim and have disabled your firewall on your router, then they could theoretically crash it, but that'd be your own fault and anyone could randomly do that. Otherwise, it's a useless bit of info, like knowing a complete strangers name.
Still less dangerous of what you are saying xD If you are an hacker & a killer :man: you can know where live someone with the ip to kill him, but if simply a hacker it is not interesting to you XD If you're a professional hacker can do wrong without knowing the ip of the victim xD And for example, "yourpshome.net" know the ip from all their users but you are not worried, too i can know your ip but you are not worried :sigh: And hello to everibody on my first post here =) :dnc5:
Are the people that I've read about who are getting booted from Home as a result of this only the ones who have removed their router firewall and joined a random group chat? I'm just trying to understand this better.
basically yes if someone gets hold of your ip address theres not a lot they can do with it unless your firewall isnt in place, someone has found a way to get ip address by joining a group, so if you join a random group with no firewall on your router they may be able to shut your router down.
Ria, there's something about your message that this forums will not let me post. I can't figure out what it is...
From what my friends are saying, the hackers send alot of packets at your system, I guess to lag it or overwhelm it, temporarily screw your network connection. Home doesn't handle long pauses in internet connection well. I wouldn't want Home to have to deal with that while it's writing to my settings file.
Its a wast of time to hak what the f is the pont of haking home u dont get a thing out of it thez ppl have no life
A ghost avatar been on my Space yesterday seems like à shadow i have seen his ID Onderdonk for info if you see this guy it s a hacker it s sure . Be careful
