September 15, 2011, Sony Network Entertainment America Inc. ("SNEA") will transfer its online services operations, including your wallet and the funds in it, to Sony Network Entertainment International LLC ("SNEI"). The first time you sign in to your PlayStation®Network account on or after September 15, 2011, you will be asked to enter into a new Terms of Service and User Agreement ("TOS") and Privacy Policy with SNEI if you wish to continue using your PlayStation®Network account. Please review all changes to the TOS and Privacy Policy carefully before indicating your agreement. In particular, please review Section 15 of the TOS, which now includes a class action waiver and requires that most disputes be resolved through arbitration. I got this by e-mail
I wonder how many people actually read it all the way through. I read some of it but if u dont accept it everything u own in Home is pretty much useless. Kind of scary if u think about it too long.
I know but you have to accept if you want to continue using PSN at all otherwise you may as well disconnect your PS3 from online access. Also how many times now has SCEA changed to something else, has anyone noticed?
It is almost similar to legal blackmail do this now or everything you own is worthless. I read about a fifth of it. Maybe we should have a poll: How many of you actually read the terms of service or eulas? From what I did read in a nutshell it seems to be "We do anything we want and are not responsible for anything that happens to you regarding privacy and if you dont agree with everything we say you lose all access to things you bought in Home. Also you have no rights at all except to spend money. Consider this a privilege and keep mouth shut and continue to be a nice little powerslave."
Accept Or You Get Nothing That's the thing, i've read some & it kinda doesn't really matter if you've read any of it. If you don't accept PSN's terms then your removed from PSN altogether. You don't get a 5th of what you've bought or half the DLC you've spent money on. It's plain & simple, You accept our terms or you get Nothing. It really does suck seeing is how PSN members bought PSN items but basically Sony will refund your money & take back whatever you've bought & close your account. So i guess all that DLC will be invalid whenever you play games & all your trophies are left to oblivion. That's why i like having all my games on disk.
I always wonder couldnt an extremely clever lawyer with unlimited financial resources claim that all eulas and terms of service are void since almost no one reads them and there is no one around to prove they did? It is similar to a kid who wants to access porn on a computer and all he has to do is check a box saying he is over 18. Also I have read a lot of posts on various forums by people who have a hard time even spelling simple words or writing complete sentences. How are they expected to read some legal mumbo jumbo that was put together by well paid legal black magicians? Shouldnt we cry out for a new way of doing things since Sony got hacked and private details were exposed. From what I read of this TOS it was forced on us to absolve Sony of any bad management of our private information by making a class action impossible and ultimately divide and conquer the individuals who dare to stand up for themselves. Also I know that ignorance of the law is no excuse but in a dumbed-down society that we now live in shouldnt it at least be like an extenuating circumstance? I think Sony is a good company and was saddened deeply when they went away after hack incident. I also bought more stuff in Home when it was back just to show support. I guess this is just a rant against the corporate mentality that makes me wonder if we are all just powerslaves. I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone if anyone actually reads this. Maybe it is the sound of one hand clapping.
I just saw a little of G4 talking about it, saying something that if PSN users agree to New Terms of Service and User Agreement, then they can't sue Sony if PSN gets hacked again. The Daily Feed with Sara Underwood 9.15.11 in High Definition
That's odd, because the way I read the agreement it prevents class actions only, while still permiting individual legal actions. Oh, the evil gits! How dare Sony ban a "one size fits all approach" and insist that each user with a legal complaint is considered fairly in a court of law based on their individual situation! The blaggards! Journalists eh? Always after a story, never after the facts.
I'm sorry but i only posted that in the hopes that someone watched the entire episode & could enlighten me on what was said. I only heard the tall end of G4 saying something about New Terms of Service and User Agreement & saying that users can't sue in case Sony gets hacked & I was like wait WHAT? I didn't understand that & have been looking 4 that episode since
You Can Thank AT&T and the Supreme Court for Sony's Anti-Class Action Terms of Servic This is what encouraged Sony to include the controversial clause in the new TOS. Along with a new PlayStation 3 firmware update, Sony recently introduced new terms of service that users must agree to before being allowed online. By agreeing to them, you forfeit the right to join in any class action lawsuits against the company, save for those filed no later than August 20, 2011. It seemed like a hostile and perhaps even illegal clause. As it turns out, we can thank AT&T and the Supreme Court for its inclusion. :demonangel: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :demonangel: You Can Thank AT&T and the Supreme Court for Sony's Anti-Class Action Terms of Service
