Home Revamp in Autumn PlayStation Home to become social games hub | Games industry news | MCV Sounds promising.
I'll get excited about this one when I actually see it in functional operation. Until then, it just sounds a little scary. The linked article within the main one has even more info. http://venturebeat.com/2011/08/22/s...tion-home-virtual-world-as-a-social-game-hub/
PlayStation Home Today - Connect with PlayStation Home Friends from across the globe also seem to be covering it, but I'm not a member and can't check for any extra info there.
This looks interesting although I hope this doesn't mean the losing of many of the spaces and things we are already enjoy. Wonder when they have this planned for implementation. The Fall is almost here.
The social service is getting a facelift. The territories include the Action District (pictured above), where users can associate in a gritty, urban place that looks like a first-person shooter level and provides direct access to action and horror games; Sportswalk, a place that makes you feel like you are ?outside the stadium? with access to major league sports scores, headlines, highlights, and sports games; the Adventure District which drops you into a an island jungle with a lot of mystery, hidden treasure, and adventure games; and Pier Park, a waterfront boardwalk with access to carnival, outdoor, and arcade games. You can take a ride on the Pier Park Ferris wheel (pictured below) or visit the arcade.
Sony is also planning an update to its core client, or the underlying user experience in PlayStation Home. It will allow for a more streamlined experience upon login with different tracks for new, returning and regular Home users. One of the new games that Sony will debut on PlayStation Home is COGS, a social game being developed by indie game label Codename.Buser said the average time spent in the Home platform is 70 minutes per session. There are already 230 games to play in the world and 9,000 virtual items. Home has 65 virtual spaces, 35 partners, and it has held more than 600 community events. Users can still access all of that, but with one big difference.?We get to users to their games as fast as possible,? Buser said. :demonangel: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :demonangel: Sony redesigns its PlayStation Home virtual world as a social game hub | VentureBeat
I see major updates on home and start to worry. It looks good, but I hope we do not lose some spaces we already have or get major bugs with them.
Four Districts The Hub as in the earlier post. The Hub:The new, futuristic Hub brings games directly to players with a featured game front-and-center upon login, the Activity Board where players can engage in quests and community activities, and a direct path to free games via the teleporter. 1. Action District:A gathering place for the hardcore demographic, the Action District has a gritty, urban feel reminiscent of a first-person shooter level and provides a direct travel point to action and horror games. 2. Sportswalk:The Sportswalk has an exciting outside-the-stadium feel with instant major league sports scores, headlines and highlights, ample space for sports-themed games and provides direct travel points to sports-related games. 3. Adventure District:The Adventure District drops you in a lush island jungle with an air of mystery, hidden treasure and discovery, where players will be able to launch directly into adventure-themed games.
4. Pier Park:A waterfront boardwalk leads players to carnival, puzzle, outdoor and arcade games. Take a ride on the Pier Park Ferris wheel or visit the arcade for some bright entertainment. The districts and their content will change as time goes on, always providing players with new games and experiences. An additional update to Home will streamline the experience so that players go directly to the area they want upon launching the app and will give users the ability to create their own in-Home events. Buser wasn't ready to give solid details on the program, but he did say, "In a nutshell, it'll allow you to come in, create your own event, basically tell people what it is, and spread the word." :demonangel: CLICK THE LINK 4 :demonangel: PlayStation Home's Redesign - PlayStation 3 News at IGN
As long as we're open to more events I'll like this change I hope this is just an organization of spaces instead of a complete change in how Home operates.
I really unsure about this news, so I'll wait until we get some more details before I decide if it's good or bad for me.
This sounds huge. I'm surprised that something so seemingly significant was under development and we heard nothing about it until now. I agree with many here who are reserving judgment until we see what it actually is. I am crossing my fingers for something good though.
I can't wait. Here's an article playstation blog just posted about a hour ago. The Next Evolution for PlayStation Home Coming Fall 2011 – PlayStation Blog
It appears to be all about games, what about the social aspect of Home hanging with your friends chilling etc It needs more events like concerts, activities like nightclubs, Id love a replica town set in 50s playing old music with drive in cinema and a diner perhaps a roller skate rink, if I wanna play a game with friends we load the game and play I dont go to home first. and there will never be a game on home that is as good as a bought game, Look at what areas are always busy and have stayed busy since they were put into home, places like the bowling alley dont matter what region your in its always busy. where public zones like resistance are dead apart from a few people using it as a meeting spot because its quiet. and the worse apartments on home are game based because they think a fan will buy them without thinking. But the social side could provide less revenue, Example this week Lockwood aim to make money off silicon lounge as an apartment when it would of made a better public space add some music and it would of been packed every night, now it will never be packed its way too big for any of the apartment limits on items and guests. When someone there could of said lets release this as a public space and sell add-ons to it bit more work but its what made the sodium hub popular. They cant get it right now and another big update mishap would be a disaster, Im all for change if it doesnt suit me then theres always alternatives
They can't even repair Waterfall Terrace and yet we trust them for a new core update this soon? lol I'm not holding my breath.
