Great comic, interesting story It is a fantasy story set in modern day about a young woman named Dara Brighton seeking revenge on a trio of siblings with unique abilities. Dara's conflict with the siblings revolves around, and is aided by, an unusual sword.

Requiem Resurrection


The story is set in a world called Résurrection, which is often called Hell (however, it seems more like a mixture of Hell and Purgatory, as everyone seems to land in there - even "innocent victims" and the only known way to leave it is through purification or redemption, by being "expired" or "expiring" one's tormentor). In Résurrection people are re-incarnated into monsters according to the sins - or lack thereof - of their life.

The lowest ranks are formed by zombies and Kobolds whilst vampires form the elite of the society and the ruling class. The more cruel one was in life, the better he is rewarded on Résurrection. There is therefore an inverted concept of justice in "Requiem Chevalier Vampire". Résurrection has a similar shape as our Earth does, but everything appears to be the opposite way around than on Earth. Land has replaced the oceans, while seas of perpetual fire occupy our known continents and time flows backwards. People do not get older but rejuvenate until they become a foetus and ultimately are forgotten; their memory follows the same cycle and is "lost" as people get younger. In order to avoid madness and total loss of their mind in this process, Résurrection's residents are addicted to a drug based on black opium.

 

BioShock goes back to Rapture in new novel next week


Rapture ? one of gaming?s most fascinating and atmospheric settings. Want to know how the city under the sea started out? Then pick up a copy of John Shirley?s new novel BioShock: Rapture, when it releases next week.As the name suggest, the book explores the iconic setting and what it was like before it fell victim to splicers, evil little girls, and giant tin cans. Previous insight into the fall of Rapture has only been provided in the games? audio diaries, so this should provide clearer context.
The book hits on July 19, though you can read an excerpt of it here if you simply can?t wait (although ignore the blurb that says the city was created by JackRyan). We can confirm to you now that it isn?t just a reprint of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Valve comics get bundled this November


Valve, makers of legendary franchises likeTeam Fortress, PortalandLeft 4 Deadwill soon release a collection of past web comics in one big book to launch in November. Just what franchises are these comics based on? The very three listed above. Sorry, no Dr. Freeman as usual.Titled Valve Presents: The Sacrifice and other Steam-Powered Stories, each comic is a reprint of a previous web-series that can still be read for free. Those who really do prefer to have the paper in their hands however (the digital*revolution*is coming, people) can lay down $30 for the collection come November 16th.And to be fair, these comics are a step ahead of the usual tie-in promotional tat, so why not give them a read?

New Assassin?s Creed comic announced


Ubisoft?s adding to the Assassin?s Creedlore with another comic release.A follow-up to 2010?s The Fall, Assassin?s Creed: The Chain will carry on the stories of Daniel Cross and Nikolaï Orelov.The comic is once more born out cooperation between Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl, the UbiWorkshop blog reveals.There are no dates for The Chain just yet, though folks who missed The Fall can grab it this November in CE form with an exclusive prologue to boot. Kick-Ass 2 Comic Fast Tracked


Hit-Girl Mini Series Also Planned
Speaking with Comic Book Resources, Kick-Asscreators*Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.* announced plans to speed up the publishing schedule of the schlump turned costumed vigilante's second comic series. Part of what is motivating the acceleration is a planned spin-off mini-series focusing on the 10 year old, unstoppable killer Hit-Girl.*Between last October and today, two issues ofKick-Ass 2have shipped to comic shops, but Millar is now promising "we're going to be on a very strict six-week schedule. It won't deviate from that at all, because a plan has been carefully worked out with Marvel to make sure we never have any further problems."

Dead Island novel releasing alongside videogame


Damn, that was one hell of a trailer! The game has yet to hit store shelves, and Dead Islandalready has a book deal. Bantam has announced it?s publishing the official novelisation of Deep Silver?s zombies-in-paradise game, penned by award-winning British Fantasy author Mark Morris. The book is scheduled for simultaneous release with the videogame on September 8, giving readers ?a terrifying glimpse into the horrors thrust upon the four individuals who have unwittingly embarked upon the ultimate holiday from Hell.?
