Anon boast that they are "legion," but in fact "legion" literally means three to six thousand people. I would be very surprised if Anon is anywhere near that large, but it's possible. If so, perhaps "legion" is the right word. If anything, even with a proper Anon legion of about five thousand independent members, only maybe one in ten is actually anything other than a skript-kiddie, wannabe, or camp-follower, so that'd make the ones that matter maybe 500, tops. You would only need to decimate the legion, which literally means to strike down one in ten, to render the (dis)organization ineffectual and cowed. In the last three months, about 50 of these people have been arrested so far. If we're generous to the lawmen and assume all are actually appropriately-arrested, that leaves maybe 450. Let's also give credit to one in ten of the active, useful Anon members and assume they've gone beyond being just cocky and loudmouthed and actually have had the sense to protect themselves and cover their trails. That leaves 400 potential collars on the loose. Given the additional evidence The Man is accumulating every time they arrest new people, follow-up arrests will accelerate, at least up to a point. I figure maybe 24 months at a steady pace, and 9-12 if accelerated by useful new information, to lasso the stragglers. You see, "strength in numbers," matters only as a group rallying cry before the battle. For the ones who fall, it means nothing. For those who see them fall, the cry grows hollow. They may boast of revenge, but in time they'll either fall themselves, or flee. No, I do not care for Anon. Or LulzSec. They're just criminals. Vandals, anarchists, bullies, and cowards, masquerading as some vague kind of freedom fighters, when all they really want is to steal your identity and your money and then laugh at you from behind a mask. No, sir, I don't like them.
We need to realize that these people are Heroes for their cause. Imagine being a 20 year old college student, like the girl I read about the other day on thesmokinggun.com. She may give up the next 15 years of her life with a Felony Charge permanently on her record. That is true Heroism. I'm just not smart enough to understand why this is the best way to effect change? :wacko: Now, if she can turn State's Evidence and cause more Anon members to be arrested then maybe she could get a lighter sentence. Maybe even finish College on Mum and Dad's money?

One might say the same about the 9/11 hijackers and what they gave up for their cause. Well, someone else might say it. I wouldn't, and I wouldn't say it about that girl either. Being a cute, nerdy young college girl doesn't make you any better than some scarred, hulking middle-aged eastern-european dude if you both engage in cyber-terrorism. She's not a hero. She's just a stupid, cocky jerk who thinks she knows better than the rest of us what's good for the world. I don't remember electing her as my representative. I hope she gives up 15 years of her life. That's 15 years she won't get to spend trying to impose her will on the world and on people like me. It's 15 years that other jerks like her will have an example to see when considering doing the same things themselves. I disagree kane. I think the vast majority of these losers are only brave when they think they are safe. They stupidly believed the law wouldn't be able to catch them. They believed they were too smart to be caught. Vanity before a fall. Very few would have done this if they knew they could be caught. But they believed they were too skillful. And that they were too large a group to be singled out. Now reality has bitchslapped them. I have no doubt they aren't scared to death of what's going to happen now.
I'm kinda wondering, how are these people heroic. They hack our profiles steal our credit & other personal information, cause the servers we used to shutdown then causing those companies to raise prices to gain back the money they've lost during the outage putting a hurt on the user's wallets. How are they heroic again? i think i missed that part.
