Makes me wonder how many of these new users may have been affected by the reward bug and have no clue how to get back to the service. Nice to know however that Home is in fact seeing high activity levels. I know I've been on quite a bit lately for a number of different activities. Gamasutra - News - E3: PlayStation Home Sees Record Activity Levels After PSN's Return ___ E3: PlayStation Home Sees Record Activity Levels After PSN's Return by Tom Curtis June 8, 2011 At E3 2011, Sony’s Jack Buser revealed to Gamasutra that the company’s social platform PlayStation Home reached an all-time high in user activity levels since the PlayStation Network came back online. “We’re having record traffic in Home,” said Buser, who serves as director for PlayStation Home. “The week we restored the service, we hit a new record in terms of weekly unique users.” “We were watching the numbers and we were just so excited. We were just dancing in the streets. The numbers are through the roof, he added. “I think it speaks to the loyalty of our user base, and to the power of these kinds of platforms." These increased activity levels coincide with other recent boosts in PlayStation activity. At the Sony’s media briefing on Tuesday, company president and CEO Jack Tretton announced that since PSN’s return, PlayStation 3 hardware sales have risen by 27 percent and that PSN activity levels have reached 90 percent of pre-outage numbers. PlayStation Home, however, is the only segment of the PlayStation Network to exceed its previous traffic records after the service’s return. Since the restoration of PSN, Sony has added over 100 free virtual items in Home, and has recently added a virtual recreation of the Sony E3 booth to encourage users to check out Sony’s E3 news via their console.
I think E3 helped a bit. I notice quite a lot of ppl from different countries(Japan, Germany) in US PS Home for the E3 room. Plus a lot of ppl had that PS home itch after missing it for a month due to PSN Outage. & yes I'm sure I'm stating the obvious! :sigh:
Its down to free content. I spent the other night just hanging around and the number of presets asking where they can get there free content from was unreal. Worrying part is most where also saying how bad home is and they where only on to get there free content.
Yeah FREE item's is GOOD! But that Random BUG isn't... Step into E3 and take a Risk there asking everyone to do.... Some will get the Rewards some will Find the Bug waiting for suckers to come in... AWW!
I don't know how much traffic I caused making new accounts to gift my-frozen-self and noob accounts to see E3 without freezing. I think all by myself I was 10 people. ;D
