One can hope the new PSN has some new features. The most important one however is that when it comes back up that it stays up. You Will Be Surprised And Pleased With The New PSN « Games Thirst ___ You Will Be Surprised And Pleased With The New PSN by Ernice Gilbert on May 7th, 2011, under Hot, News, PS3, PSN, Sony2 Comments » Are you tired of waiting on Sony to turn on PSN? I’m sure you are. We are too, but before your patience wear thin, allow me to comfort you with these words, when PSN returns, you’ll be pleasantly surprised and thoroughly pleased with the new, revamped PlayStation Network. Just recently, Sony announced for European gamers that they’ll get a chance to download four games for free as part of the “welcome back” program the company’s planned to deliver to every PSN member. But that’s not all. As Sony’s rebuilding the network, work being done doesn’t only entail security enhancements. Sony’s about to surprise us with features gamers have longed begged for, and while some won’t go live right away, expect things like cross-game chat and video chat to be part of the new PSN. “As we are rebuilding the network, we are taking into consideration implementing features such as cross-game-chat and in-game video chat to name a few. I cannot confirm any new features at this time but expect a massive update when the network is restored,” said a Sony representative recently. We should also expect to see a revamp of the XMB, and other related changes. Once the service comes back online, you should expect the following features to be available: • Restoration of Online game-play across the PlayStation®3 (PS3) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems • This includes titles requiring online verification and downloaded games • Access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3/PSP for existing subscribers • Access to account management and password reset • Access to download un-expired Movie Rentals on PS3, PSP and MediaGo • PlayStation®Home • Friends List • Chat Functionality In the coming days: Expect PSN by early next week: “In the coming days, we will restore service to the networks and welcome you back to the fun. I wanted to personally reach out and let you know that we are committed to serving you to the very best of our ability, protecting your information better than ever, and getting you back to what you signed up for – all the games and great entertainment experiences that you expect from Sony,” said Sir Howard Stringer in a letter of apology to PSN users. The “new” PSN as Sony calls it, will definitely be more robust than what we’ve come used to, so bare patience just a little longer, because you’ll be pleased.
I still stand by my 'If' comment, i don't trust news that's come from some random blogs comments page that i have never heard of, to many fake people out there trying to use the downtime to gain hits. If Sony can remake PSN in a matter of weeks and add in all that, you have to ask why normal firmware updates take months to add in something very basic.
I know. Just trying to find some positive things to think about. And as you know PSN is a hit generator for many many websites. They are loving it. My biggest hope is that the service comes back bug free and stays up. I'm not sure how optimistic one can be. given these terrorists have shown that they are in fact capable of creating lots of trouble. I'd love to post an article saying that a number of these losers have in fact been arrested. Wow... would that make my day.
I agree with Carla - these "other" websites say many things - some of which "may" be true - but until I hear/see it from Sony itself - I am still going to play that stupid game called.............what was it?...........................Oh Yeah THE WAITING GAME :schmoll: JPConway
I have personally never been one for fake news reporting, why in the short term it might gain you some hits, but in long term it loses your site credibility and that can really hurt a site. Why having them systems would be nice for some (not things i would personally use), i would just like to see a working network added back online asap that stays working.
I know. I frequent N4G and as you know blogs there thrive on catchy headlines. I have to admit I hate even clicking on some of the source links and always try and read the additional info directly at N4G before going to the website reporting the news. This whole affair has been a gold mine for websites looking for server traffic.
Hey SONY - I ain't getting no younger - dang it - get your butt's in gear - and get a move on!! Love ya - mean it *kinda* JPConway
im a bit confused.. so this thing you posted about the new psn features by 'ernice gilbert' is not from sony, but rather from a 3rd party from another site..?
He does quote a Sony official hun. "said a Sony representative recently." Would be nice if that person was identified. But that is journalism today.
Well - the author said he "quoted" a Sony official - but it could have been the night janitor - for all we know  JPConway
If you follow the trail thats always left by copy and paste news reporting you find this "quote" from a "Sony" official come from a comment in the comments box to some random sites news from a user that "claims" to be a Sony official.
Hmmmm....we shall see... I am losing my excitement over its return. Tell you the truth, I just want my missing items back. Ho hum, another weekend down the drain.:Rip:
WoW!! I had no idea Ratchet and Clank was so much fun...started playing last night and couldn't stop. Day 18 and I no longer wake with the expectation that the PSN will be up n running. And you know what? It's better now. Every day waking and running to the website trying to log on in anticipation was taking it's toll mentally. So yeah, I might even wait 4 one millionths of a second after I find out PSN is up to log on. THANKS again to the admin on this site. Another Home friend has found this site and we got to chat yesterday...Sweet! & Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there (you know who you are) LoL
Awesome news I believe Sony is getting there ducks in order, yeah they caught some of the bums responsible PSN will be bigger and better than before watch you guys know how Sony does stuff looking forward to the return of Home this week.
You Need some positive to keep you sane jo The only thing is i see it says expect PSN by early next week. :unhappy: I'll wait for the blog to update to see just to be sure.. I also thought European gamers get a chance to download two of five games for free as part of the “welcome back” program? did they change that to four downloads.
"we are taking into consideration implementing features such as....." those words tell me what they mean is that it won't be part of the "new" psn when it does come back but they are purely considering adding them later on...(assuming that it was really from someone at Sony) I just want PSN back and I couldn't care less about new features, I just wanna get back in touch with friends and play some online games
