Granzella finally released a game - it's a re-release of their Irem earthquake disaster survival games from the PS2 as a bundle, I believe. It will be released on Feb. 18th.
The bundle part is incorrect. Both will be released separately as a PS2 Classics digital download for the PS3 with a price tag of 1000 yen each. Disaster Report 3 PSP digital download will come at a later date. No word on if it'll have Vita support. Granzella recently bought the rights to Disaster Report from Irem. They have resumed working on Disaster Report 4 and will have some kind of announcement around Fall 2015 (but as usual, don't be surprise if it gets delayed). Back in the Irem days, it was announced for the PS3, but that seems to have been scratched out and is currently unknown.
Ah, okay. Thanks for that updated information, Faga. Glad they've decided to get the Disaster Report games back after the May 2011 crisis they had to deal with. After the cancellation of their own Irem version of their latest Disaster Report and leaving many people lose their jobs and followed by bankruptcy, I'm glad they've decided to pick it back up.
The bankruptcy info is untrue. If you gotten that from those that have been saying that restructuring a company means bankruptcy was filed, then you need to go over the terms. If those 2 words always go together, then we would have seen Sony and many other companies go through bankruptcy several thousand of times. Even there is no evidence of bankruptcy filed for Irem when you look over the public documents and bankruptcy data banks in Japan. And they seem to be making more money and have employed more people than back then. (had about 200+ around 2010, now it's 250+) Irem's company focus pretty much was decided before the crisis of 2011 to close down the game division and focus mainly in pachinko. Kujo and it's team was given a final deadline to finish the game, and they just couldn't deliver. The reason why Irem took this route is because Japan's economy got really bad in the late 2000s (lehman shock, the irresponsible Democatic party not knowing how to run a country, etc) and the future was somewhat uncertain by many. In addition, Irem's game division wasn't producing much good results, especially with many delays and bad sales. The 2011 crisis had nothing to do with it's decision, but was used for better reasoning. (looks better saying the company changed it's course due to the crisis, rather than saying the company wasn't doing good) Forgot actually who said it, and if it was an interview or thought twitter. Kujo and it's team was given the opportunity to stay and work on pachinko. But as everyone knows, the 7 (or was it 8?) wanted to continue creating "games" and "Home items", so they decided to leave and create their own company, Granzella.
Okay, I thought it was the whole 2011 crisis, and them helping out the people in Japan that let to their downfall. This was word of mouth from which I've heard it from, so I apologize if I got the story mixed up again. Again, thank you for that information and setting it straight.
The re-release of the Disaster Report games from Granzella have been released in PSN Japan Store, but they are now on sale for 1000 yen each on their new sale for PS2 games. Get them before their prices change.
