The Mononoke Bon Festival has begun in the Great Edo of Nippon lounge. The event will begin in Europe on August 6th and ends on September 10. In North America, the event starts from August 13th onwards (the schedule is subject to change).! Just as the town of Edo was starting its Bon Festival, the Mononoke invaded! Their leader was a giant so big, I could hardly believe my eyes... It's up to you take down the fearsome Giant Cyclops and save the town of Edo! Lucky for you, we've prepared a new class and a new set of armor, perfect for picking off the Giant Cyclops and his pesky Mononoke minions... With a sword in each hand, the Twin Blade Samurai is ready for battle! Equipping the Twin Katana allows you to become a Twin Blade Samurai in Operation: Defend Edo. Twin Blade Samurai cut through enemies with their dual swords and can even release a powerful Chaos Slash by consuming Soul Power. Just two blades not sharp enough for you? By donning the Thorned Armor, you'll become impervious to attacks from the Konaki Elder, a Mononoke who'd love nothing more than to get his claws into you and stay a while. During the event, you'll earn Hero Points for each Mononoke you defeat in Operation: Defend Edo. Those who earn the most points will receive exclusive rewards. Remember, if you fall in battle, you'll lost the points you gained in your current game, so come prepared! So what are you waiting for? Grab your Twin Katana and Thorned Armor and head out for battle! The people of Edo are counting on you! Is this the first time for this in these 2 regions? I can remember it from JP obviously, but can't even remember if it ever made it to US/EU.
You might be thinking of Setsubun, Hopper. That hit every region, except for NA since it was a week behind. And then came Kikai, which became months apart, making players play it easier on every region. Though the last Bon Odori was in fact having the Obake Floating Head event in the Mononoke space, and having the U-Man figurines in the Edo shooting gallery and the Edo picture frame from the photo booth. And yes, the last Bon Odori was just a normal one. I'm not really sure if there's going to be ranking board rewards like from the Setsubun, Kikai, and final Money God events. I'm hoping not, but I'm hoping just for the casual rewards when you keep unlocking rewards after certain points. At least by then, it'll keep myself busy with other stuff. If it does, I don't mind whatever stuff I might try and get, but ranking board rewards are tough to grab if you're going to try for the 1-10 spot or by staying overnight for long hours. Seems pointless just for a certain reward in my case. I'm a big fan of mononoke stuff, so having stuff like this is a lot of fun.
I think we'll be seeing some there, which would change day to day. And, I found out, there will be leaderboard rank rewards for the Mononoke event.
Ok thanks Recca. So, are there any new rewards, besides the ranking board ones, that we wouldn't have gotten last time?
I have no idea. I doubt they'll have the same stuff like Setsubun. It might have a board showing the rewards for each rank. I would like to see what they are (if they're any good), otherwise I won't bother with them until it hits NA Home. I'll try and do both, but no guarantees I'll keep staying on whatever rank I'm likely wanting to stay at. Having all of the ranking Kikai rewards for NA, EU, & Asia Home is enough for me (In Japan Home, I only got up to the blue commander suit, which was better than the other rewards, even though I reached max score but my winning rank didn't get chosen as 1 from the server like it should have been for the leaderboard, but was listed as 105 from their leaderboard. Morons...) Upon in Edo in EU Home now, the leaderboards been bugged by carrying over the Setsubun event points, so completing one game of it should net you all the rewards inside there. I'm certain GZ will fix this upon next week, including showing what the rank rewards will be.
It will resume itself on the 13th, the day when NA will get theirs. Those that did play the Mononoke event a few days ago during the Setsubun point clash will receive an exclusive reward as an apology, according to their Facebook page.
