If you're not trying for the gunfighter 4-piece outfit with the gun and don't have the cash on you, you should use the Setsubun Metal Black Rod, since it takes big damage after 5-6 hits on the big Okubi heads. If you're running out of energy, it's best to go to the glowing inner circle in the Edo row houses and stay alive, since there's a freeze bug when you use an item like Faga has said about.

If you just concentrate on the big Okubi heads and avoid the other projectiles from the ghost lanterns and the Hitoubon, you should be okay with using your sword, rod, etc., and then just run toward the light beam to exit and avoiding the other monsters in combat.

I remembered buying the metal rod club from last Setsubun, and used it for this event and it worked, since it's long and deals great damage, even when I jump and attack in mid-air when the Okubi head is high above the ground.

The reward this week is the 3-piece long rifle wall adornment.

In the Kikai event, I didn't buy any equipment.
I got through to the end space ship.
I believe that buying equipment can help, but I don't believe you need to buy.

I didn't get the fact that Kikai wouldn't be around for long, I wanted to take my time, but missed out on whatever is after the mothership.

I enjoyed Kikai, it's nicely story based, play is functional.

Even though you play through without the paid items, you'll also be missing the chance on the Level 2 & Level 3 rewards around Kikai for your weapons. Just a thought.

And yes, battling King Kikai with only your wooden sword from there will in fact be a bit of a challenge.

Has there been any indication from Granzella that they are aware of the issue and if it will be fixed? I don't know if this can be done without a gun, but I certainly can't do it with a sword when I freeze in place each time I try to use my health refill. Which are the ones that you have to defeat to complete a round? If I know the least that I have to do maybe I can at least finish 1 each week for the rewards.

I did post a solution, Hopper, and I'll post it again:

Without using the gun (or if you don't have the money to buy it), what you need is either any better sword or the Metal Black Rod. When I was at EU, I had no pounds for the gun outfit and gun, but used the Metal Black Rod from the Setsubun event that I had bought near mid-February and wearing the Donganryu armor. Since the rod is slow but powerful, I also used my samurai companion to help out. I first stayed away and dodged the fireballs from the big Okubi heads and then attack after she crash lands on the ground (the ground slam will hurt you if you're close). She usually spits 3-4 fireballs before crashing down hard and then resume back to spitting fireballs.

Just pay attention to the big Okubi heads and not the other enemies, and avoid the Hitoubon heads that seem to teleport at you. You can also jump and attack your metal rod or better sword while she's in the air. If you're close to death, instead of using a health item and getting the bug, run toward the blue circle in the Edo houses instead. That way, you can keep going without waiting for some enemy to hit you or get stuck through time out.

After killing the two big Okubi heads, just run toward the pillar of light and avoid fighting any enemies guarding it. I had two red ogres guarding the exit, but I managed to block and dodge and made it on my 3rd try and got my reward. You really need a bit of patience, but it pays off if you're careful and not too careless getting hit by projectiles.

As for the bug, I bet they'll fix it by next update and it has been aware by them from the Japan Home community already.

Thx Recca--worked great. I used the old red sword that glows and got it done. Just had to be patient, take some cover at the right times and avoid other enemies carefully. Was easier than I though it was going to be after a couple of tries.

Best thing to always try is to delete Home and to reinstall it.

Here is a pic of the trophy I won for winning Cosmic Water Scooter Race. I used the Seated-type water craft, it has good top speed.

I have a question to ask: where can you buy the water scooters on PlayStation Home? I have a problem trying to beat the Kikai Emperor using a default boat. Is there anyway and anywhere to buy the fastest scooter for the cosmic water scooter race in order to defeat the Kikai Emperor in the Cosmic Scooter Race?

Granzella has done a great job for this event, loads better than Setsubun IMO. They really fixed a few issues from past April Fools events back from Irem in Japan Home, and the story is something else. This is their first April Fools event, and I'm happy to be a part of it, despite the use of the ranking board for rewards.

Luckily, I reached the Top 10 for this event in NA with my 9,999,999 score last night, so at least I'm very happy to have the Kikai bike and the other rewards from the board.

And on another note, this will be the last event GZ will do events with ranking board rewards, so again, I'm happy to accomplish being one of the Top 10 finalists.
