NOTE : This story was first published before the official announcement. As of today, it is on the opening splash screens in NA PS Home. Looks like we get it next week! Remember how Serenity Plaza mysteriously appeared before its release? It seems it has happened again. Only this time, if you can get there, you'll find you can't save it as a favorite. So if you are lucky enough to spot a friend there, you can follow them. What is it you ask? It would seem it is meant to be an Open House for the latest "exclusive" space (read EXPENSIVE) called "Diamond Beach Mansion". This time, the mansion is set on a beach and the first section of it will set you back $14.99. Here's the official description: Diamond Beach Mansion Enter the most luxurious space in Playstation Home. The Diamond Beach mansion is packed with special features - from a gifting machine that lets you give your friends exclusive virtual items (and rewards just for the owner), to functional appliances and fun interactions like the user-controlled weather and day/light cycles. The Diamond Beach Mansion includes four extenstions : 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, Infinity Pool and Private Yacht that you can buy in any order. Collect all four areas to unlock a secret area. I made some notes on the "interactions" : - Gift Machine - 5 items - slippers, shoes, chair, sofa, wall hanging (owner and guests) - Fish Tank - Let's you choose one of 4 views or a "Fish Cam" view - Also lets owner feed the fish (if done daily, items are added to tank) - Close/open sliding doors (2) - Island Water Taxi at dock - Go to Diamond Beach Yacht Club & Marina - Ceiling Fan Control (On/Off) - by entrance door - Window Tint Control - Wall TV - Shows same content as current mansion (PS Blog) Kitchen: - Turn On Stove - Stove Hood Light (On/off) - Open Pantry Door (2) - Open Oven Door - Open Fridge Door Bathroom : - Flush Toilet - Turn On The Sinks Treasure Hunt Mini game - 1st item to acquire (there are 4) is in bathroom (Metal Detector) - need other purchased spaces (not available) to continue You can buy the first floor at a commerce point, but if you do, it won't work yet. Will it be out tomorrow? Will it work then? Next week? Stay tuned..... we will know soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the pics. That's probably because someone hacked it in. lol Personally, I won't buy anything that I find out can be hacked for free. Believe me, there are entire personal spaces that most people pay for in Home, that some people hack for free. I've had it explained to me and seen it firsthand. I, in turn, pm'ed a certain Sony Digital Platforms Manager about what this sort of activity does to Home and its legitimate users (in case he actually cared) and got this reply: "Don't worry, we are aware of it and they won't have those spaces for long". Guess what? It's probably a year later now and they still do and it continues to happen. The space does look nice though.
Its not a space that was "stolen". It looks like an Open House that has yet to be released that someone got into and opened the flood gates. All of Home is looking at it right now. Lol
All of Home is looking at it right now because Home servers/item databases = Not giving you a hard time Karen.....just sayin'
One would hope that 14.99 is for just the first section and each successive section gets cheaper, like first mansion. Even then, still expensive.
Yes. Hopefully there won't be an Y-8 nightclub needing us to buy this to get in. I noticed Not many rectangular blocks were rotated in the construction of this space. The textures are nice, but the apt looks a bit blocky. The dock is perfectly aligned with the house. And even the fan in the entranceway is rigidly aligned with the house. If I'm not in the space now, but I think even the fish swim paths were rigidly aligned too.
I have seen better spaces worth less. This looks horrible from the images,I may need to see it for better judgement but from the pics this place looks bad graphically compared to other favorite spaces. Not to mention the actives are useless. The only thing that I might be interested in is the gift machine and if it has exclusive items coming to it. That alone is not worth the money. I would rather get the original mansion with the games and pic frames built in. Granted I am being quick to judge off of the images and I have not seen the add ons but that is way too expensive.
Since the space is obviously not ready for prime time, I'll reserve judgement on the design and artwork. Let's just say I sure hope it improves. A LOT. Then again, maybe it was never meant to be finished and someone goofed by making it so people could get to it.
Honestly like the space better in comparison towards the gold mansion although from what I've seen so far the look of the gold mansion actually looks better graphic wise I think it really really needs to improve before I would consider buying it. Although I do love the space a bit better when it comes to interactivity maybe once it's released they'll explain how things work w/ the space(if it's going to be one full space like how the open house is). I wonder will this include itself w/ the x7 list of items needed to get further in the space.
Lol, I checked it out andmI'm not impressed. The price is a huge let down for the low quality of the graphics. Lockwood Dream Island has it beat. I can't even swim in water in the Diamond Mansion beach. Also, why do I want to stand in the bathroom flushing a toilet and turning the water on and off, lol? We should be able to wash hands or at least sit on toilet, lol. The 1980s gold appliances and accents throughout the space isn't my personal cup of tea either and the TV in the space is not impressive as what Loot has accomplished for les money in Hollywood Hills. Come on Sony, roll up your sleeves and get back to work! If you want top dollar then produce top knotch! I hope they have more plans for this space. Ehem, ok I'm done ranting now, lol.
UPDATED - 4:00 pm GMT July 18th, 2013 Release date now set at Wednesday, July 24th, 2013 - Interactions updated
Now that it is official, are they really going to release this with sub-par artwork? - Waterline is straight (no waves - no tide) - Walls lack texture - Water looks like an old PS2 game (underwater view is horrible too) - Night time sky is BAD - Compare to a Granzella night sky - Dusk has so much orange it looks like a nuke exploded offshore
It is on Mars. I am wondering if they fixed it so people are not walking through doors. I also got pushed down the hallway by the lion. I hope they are hiding a better version.
LOL Well they surely will open it up next week. Interesting how the threads over at the forums about this were all suddenly deleted.
I noticed that. When you open a sliding door, it only appears to be open for you. If you close it, and a guest opens it, it looks like they are walking through the door. Surely they could do better.
Now the Open House for the Marina and Yacht Club portion of the space is "out" too. Not sure what is going on with all of this, especially considering all of the threads about it were deleted at ps.com.
I'm at the Diamond Beach Yacht Club and Marina public space right now, its like a x7 deal where you need to own a set item from a list to get passed a gate.
