Looks like Lockwood will be releasing a new version of the Lockwood telepad which will work the same but which will not allow collision glitching. This was posted to their twitter. It does appear to be focused on all regions. It does sound like the old ones will be removed from inventory. This will probably not make the glitching community happy. All I will say about this is that they are hell-bent on driving Home right into the ground......and it's working out great for them. It's "out of touch" decisions like this (and obviously so many others), that have earned Sony 4 years of losses and counting. Hope they keep up the good work--it's really taking them to great places. ...and if there is somehow a notion out there that doing this will help the overall technical performance of Home as a whole, it won't take long to figure out that isn't the case. I've seen how things work in Home for far too long to buy into that.
My guess is that the new ones will not work as well to get you "outside" the barriers of a personal space. Not surprising after Japan made a stink about them. Can't blame Lockwood really. Their goal, after all, is to sell their product. Not too long ago, Lockwood said it wasn't "high or our priority list" to repack them so they took up less furniture slots. Now we get this announcement. I'm sure the Japan mess made them reconsider.
Of course they won't work to do that--that's the whole reason they are replacing them. If it's Kujo and Granzella's whimpering about aesthetics or whatever it was that caused this, then there is a developer that has more leverage than the makers of the item themselves....which in turn is a pretty sad statement. That's why I always thought it was best to keep Japan Home and its developers in Japan. If it's not Granzella that prompted this then it's Sony themselves trying to spite their own customers again and prove that they can actually get something fixed if they feel like it. Those are the 2 possibilities that I see....both ridiculous. This activity has never bothered anyone else and fixing it will not have any effect on how Home runs. It's been like this for how many years? Furthermore, if this is because of Granzella, then they should have designed their spaces so it couldn't be done! What does Lockwood have to do with the way Kujo wants things in Home to look? In the big picture for me, it doesn't really matter anyways--I like to use the Casino in Home and that's about it anymore. Sorry friends--this is just aggravating to me and takes away even more of the fun that is left in Home. Just my opinions.
I'm seriously thinking of never buying an apartment from them again. And cutting any purchase of Lockwood items. I spent alot on Mercia. I've bought the Dream island and the boat. If I had known they were killing my telepads that I ALREADY PAID FOR, I wouldn't have spent a cent on Mercia, that boat or that island. And I'll definitely drop alot of future spending on Lockwood. Seriously. I PAID for the telepad items as is. I basically made a legal contract with them for an item. For them to reach into my inventory and cripple something that is my property really....should be illegal and sue-able. i don't want to rant. But this to me should be something a company can't do without their customers suing them.
Beyond that, you know what really sucks FF? Unfortunately, they could take Home offline permanently and remove the icon from the XMB tomorrow and there isn't a thing that anyone could do about it. They would just say that all purchases were made with the understanding that Home was a beta. I don't like ranting like this either, because in the big scheme of things, none of it is important, but it's beyond aggravating that they continue to drive people away who have been around since the start and have invested a lot of time and money into this thing. All the while, the platform has moved on as if no attention is needed for the more serious issues like.....oh I don't know, maybe server capacity and reliability? I never "glitched" in a public space--don't know how and never had an interest, but being able to put pads in a personal space where they obviously designed more area outside of the "boundaries" (which btw, I don't even consider to be "glitching"), is completely harmless to anyone else and is such a petty thing to be worried about. It's over now, so none of it matters anyways and they could give a damn about what you, I or anyone else thinks about it.
Lockwood was kind enough to reply to a tweet of mine. They said they didn't want to change it. But they don't have a choice.. The alternative is to have it removed from the store. Looks like Sony is the bad guy again.
