Giving out substantial jail time, and publicizing it, is the best deterient to hacking. A mere slap on the wrist isn't going to cut it, hacking costs companies like Sony, and their customers millions of dollars each year, the sentencing of these hackers needs to reflect the serious damage they've caused. Don't do the crime if you aren't prepared to do the time.
So this leader of Anonymous is spilling names of other members as soon as he's caught? What a great guy to be connected with, they talked big when they began. Also this other guy is 24, and can face up to 15 years in prison. That means he'll be 39 when he gets out, possibly. I know when people are young, they feel like they should fight the system and right all these wrongs, but fighting a gaming company with the result being you spend the majority of the best years of your life behind bars just doesn't sound appealing. When compared to those in the middle east who are fighting dictators these just sound like spoiled kids.
You know what pains me? The fact that our jails are like a fun vacation for people. They get TV, books, a bed, a pillow, and other things that make me sick. I want these scum suckers to be miserable, when they are serving a sentence, but really, they will be doing anything but suffering. About the only thing left to hope for, is that Bubba gets them in his sights.
Actually, considering this is a California court, and he'll be in a californian jail.... he could be out the next day cause of jail overcrowding...

Make them pay the whole amount they provided damage for (excluding the upgrade fees and such that Sony should have been doing). If they can't pay it by themselves, make their families or relatives get the blame also.

well, "their family too" part probably won't happen. But the rest of Faga's suggestion will probably happen. This guy undoubtedly will face a huge fee in a civil court from a Sony lawsuit. Just the cost of lawyers alone will drive this guy to bankrupcy. So I'm sure he will suffer for this.
