Well well ... ... just read the announcement of Digital Leisure's casino. A few thoughts (ESPECIALLY about poker, since that's my "bag"): 1. Seems like Digital Leisure IS affording the chance for people who don't want to pay, to play. NIce gesture on their part. 2. Over 100 rewards: seems that Home reward hunters COULD spend weeks if not months here, given that most of the games are chance. NOW ... on to poker: 3. Also appears that Digital Leisure has provided the venue for poker players who have wanted a "tournament-mode". I DON'T have good feelings about that. a) Back in the EA days, people would hold off entering a game UNTIL there were enough for a full table. And what was worse, those same people would verbally abuse those who started a game with fewer than a full table. I'll say now what I said back then: some of us just want to play. We don't care how many are there -- and we don't care about payouts. Yes we could go to Sportswalk ... but those of us who want to play without the thought of full tables and payouts care about rewards too. b. While I DON'T know how Digital Leisure has implemented Tournament mode in Poker, I HOPE their system will RANDOMLY assign players to tables. At the Black Tables at EA Poker, the games were rife with teams of chip dumpers. That made the game really unpalatable. I hope Digital Leisure has found a way to deal with that. It'd be a shame for DL to see their poker degenerate. 4. FINALLY: speaking for myself, I have NO problems spending REAL $$$ for phony casino chips, or for VIP access. Conversely, kudos to Digital Leisure for providing Home users a way to gain access EITHER with $$$ OR with free play. More tomorrow when I actually experience the Casino!
