Well someone might want to post it to the official forum and ask what's up. Maybe they'll get a response from the Home Managers.
I'd be pretty amazed if this is true, after all it's only been a few weeks since they released their weird wear items which seem pretty popular, also remember he isn't simply stating that they're leaving home but closing for good. The one relief is the blog being posted over 3 weeks ago, I'd expect we'd have heard by now if they'd closed, or at the very least any items/ spaces were being removed.
1) Weird Wear 2) the new 'horn' product line...think that was just released like two weeks ago. If they were going to drop out of home they would not be making any new HOME merchandise... goes to reason no?
It's possible that Mass Media may be switching gears in some fashion inside the industry. For now though, to me there are certain inconsistencies with the idea that Mass Media may be closing outright. First of all, a company which supposedly is on the rocks does not stick its neck out, and charge ahead publishing rather risky virtual content like "Baboon Butts." Secondly, the Jak & Daxter HD Collection remade by Mass Media is scheduled to drop in February 2012. So MM is going to stick around at least until then. Because premature death of the developer before game launch tends to have a devastating effect on sales. Just my general impression! :alien:
Its understandable... if you read that blog entirely... it just sounds like a coder trying to make drama for a developer. Look at one of the comments and a person says "hope we get to work together sometime again". If MM was going under you would expect other people from MM to post in support of the blog. But, too much of it hints MM is fine... just that they released a programmer from their midst.
here is your official statement on mass media leaving home "we have nothing to disclose of at this time, stay tuned" but in all seriousness i doubt they are going since they are still making new content. i had also heard rumors of a midway 3, hasn't it been almost 1 year since midway 2 came out? if they were going away they would be dormant like irem or EA was. if anything i think jetset games would be next, which sucks because i bought the conspiracy all access pass, but i did get bored of it.
I would agree that MM is probably not going under, but they let an employee go after 16 years of fun and fulfillment, and wanted to take on another role. Midway 1 & 2 have been loads of fun for everyone, and buying the tickets, the key to open the blockade in Darla's Den personal space and the Trigger Happy arcade machine have been without a doubt profitable and it should stay that way for many new players to come onto Home. And with the sales going on and on today, I highly doubt MM is going under quite yet, and they're still make newer content. Perhaps opening Midway 3 in the future? We are still waiting for that to happen, right? All I would say is that the Home managers should keep the Midway spaces and their rewards if they do go under, and remove any sale items from MM except the tickets. Unless another company picks up where MM left off, it should keep the Midway spaces at least and just change the company name during an update.
Well it could be just the department that was working on the Jak release being closed, but the reason I would read his blog is because he was a programer on the Midway spaces too. Most of his blogs are about his XLIG development but he used to post things about Home projects as well. Either way...if someone has twitter, just ask him. I dont have twitter otherwise I would.
I Really Hope Mass Media Doesn't Leave! I For Once Liked Their Content .. The Brimstone Dancers, Weird Wear ;D And Not To Mention I Liked The Midways I Love My Dusty Brimstone Dancer .. She Is Muy Caliente! I Do Hope Eventually .. MM Release The Brimstone Dancers Clothes .. I Want Dusty's Heels
any company thats going to close its doors will work and complete projects right up to the last day, basically business as usual till the end, I agree that granzella is nothing like irem, I used to visit irem spaces at least every couple of days not been to a granzella space in three weeks, reason being no one I know hangs out on granzella spaces everyone thinks they are a much a do about nothing space
Have made contact with them and yes are having problems but have not closed and have Midway 3 in the works.
I didnt think they were done just yet. From the sound of the email I got it doesn't sound like Jet Set is gone....just not doing any Home projects
Well, thank God for that! I did email them last night, but didn't get a reply today. I'm really happy this came about now, so I can relax and enjoy the Midway spaces now. ^^
my thoughts I think they should atleast make midway free even though I payed for it im not gonna be mad . I mean I dont understand why a company like this would go out of service considering all money I'm assuming is like pure profit other then designing a item and makin it , doesn't cost them much. But yeah Sony if you do end up givin it to everyone make sure us Canadians get it to....
Mass Media is not going out of business with Sony. Midway will still be around, and Midway 3 is still in the works.
Mass media are no strangers to this, they were bought out before and shut down in a year, this variant of mass media has been around 3 years employs 20 odd staff and has churned out 3 big projects as well as some uncredited stuff. Most of the companies they have worked with before have gone out of business or has shut them down, its that type of world that these developers live in, every developer out there is looking for that series that turns them into a major player, or looking how to pay the bills till that point, Atari is good example how many times thats gone and come back, developer studios have been saved just because of games rights it had, if mass media went, looking at the green ticket always being in the top ten bought items and as long as that makes a profit then someone would take it on. Two ways to look at it, they let approx 5 staff go, after they finished a big project or they let a sixth of they workforce go, meaning thats it .
Gary how do have all this information? That's some fairly insider-sounding stuff there lol. It's hard not to get a bit concerned over something like this though. If perhaps the most popular/highest grossing space (Midway) in the whole of Home can't make it, maybe none will in the end, maybe not even the much revered Lockwood. Someone is making a ton of money on Home, guess it's not the developers. Will the greedy big-wigs at SCEX eventually bankrupt this as well? Sad.
