The new 4.0 firmware allows us to block random friend add requests and messages from anyone that isn't on our friend list. The setting is under account management on the XMB new Privacy Settings tab. PS3 System Software Update (v.4.00) – PlayStation Blog Awesome update! We've been asking for this since 1.4 brought in chat and messaging!
That's a welcome feature. But with any upgrade that sony does, you have to worry about what other unexpected "features" that might crop up. Batten down the hatches!! It's a good time to update your save file backups to USB.
hahahhaa! yuuuup... And just when they have solved all the nasty bugs in firmware 4.xx, leaving us with a perfectly fine working Operating system, ....then they will feel the need to force another bug infested update on us! v5.00!
This update probably means the amount of accounts generated will go down, no more noobs trying to get round being blocked by someone by creating new accounts, It will be interesting to see though as it might show how many troll accounts get generated.
Not sure if this is a 4.00 problem or a Hulu plus problem (both had updates yesterday), but Hulu plus will not work. After the initial update you can watch anything you want as normal, but once you quit and try to restart the application it will not work. I checked the Hulu plus website and they have a post stating that they are investigating the problem and the only work around is to delete Hulu plus and re-install. (I am sure most of you all are used to this type of fix, haha.) Otherwise seems like an okay update. Random invite blocks and messages is welcome. Im sure the Vita integration will be awesome once they come out next year.
I'm sure Hulu plus will be fixed. That's the kind of error that costs them money. Unlike when they delete something on our end by mistake......
I also know that the new update does in fact add in PlayStation Plus under the PSN logo, so clicking that will entitle you to either to buy to become a member, or renew your membership.
Omg, this message scared the hell out of me. http://i.imgur.com/oyjxm.jpg Guess that's what I get for not reading up on more info about the update. Lol.
Oh good, then it wasn't just me, who felt alarmed.[/QUOTE] very nintendo wii, lucky the message dont appear every 20 minutes lol
