I actually thought it was amusing. Though I only know about it from here. I haven't hit home yet in any region today
I wanted to wait and see what you all thought of the "Pot Noodle" promo before I posted. I see by the results it is pretty much down the middle.... so far. I think people are mixing their opinions of the "humor" (the sign over the avi) with the concept of advertiser suported promos that are "forced" on us when we sign-in or go to a particular space. So I'll split my opinion into those two categories; humor and advertiser supported items in Home. Humor : I find it kind of in bad taste, but that being said, I'm not easily offended. So it doesn't bother me. However, I'm sure if I was a Mom with a 15 year old using Home, I'd probably have a much different opinon. And although the avi is asexual, I don't see why Sony would want to aggravate the situation with the pervs. I find it interesting that EU can't have the same "sexy" avi's we have in the U.S., but they can have an avi with this message. Advertiser Supported Items : Nothing new here. We have had a bunch already (Scion, Ford, movie promos, etc.). I don't object to that. I do object to them being FORCED on me when I enter a space. I have enough junk in my inventory as it is that I didn't want and this kind of thing just adds to it. It should have given us the CHOICE as to whether or not we wanted to accept it. It's been done before so it's doable. I just hope the people responsible for these decisions don't get carried away with it and we wind-up with billboards and forced items all over Home from advertisers.
well for me as far as the advertising part, i think they could have came up with with a better outfit ( although most of the advertising outfits are not all that good ) but home needs them to continue to get better so i will take the soup outfit and throw it if the storage bin along with the other stuff. now for the humor part, yes it is bad taste and it will give the pervs in home hours and hours of jokes but at the same time you are dressed as a bowl of soup lol . i mean it would be one thing if it was a brimstone outfits or the full throttle outfits ( can't think of any sexy guy outfits lol ) with that saying on it, but it isn't so i view it as harmless and a little funny. as always though everyone has a different opinion of what is funny and what isn't, so who know if it is right or not
I didn't know the costume was being "forced" on anyone, pretty sure it's in wardrobe for you to wear if you choose to, if you mean there is forced advertising I only see a few posters around Home Square, seen much more during other promos. If you have any issue with the slogan trust me pot noodle have done a lot worse in the past and the joke is pretty similar to those pixeljunk shirts with the female "I'm easy" and male "I'm Hard" text.
You mean outside advertisers excluding game companies, right? I like how Ford did it with the showroom space, and seeing the Ford logo on a building in the CP didn't bother me either. Maybe they should make a sponsors district where advertising and related freebies can be done as lasciviously as they want, it would Keep it separate from the other public spaces and those who don't wish to participate wouldn't have to set foot in the space. Outside advertisers could be a huge source of income for Home if done right.
I had no idea that it was an automatic gift for visiting a space (ima go get mine :: ). Where do I go? ;D However, Home has ALWAYS needed an option to accept/decline a new reward. I am now trying to avoid some rewards since there is no delete inventory option and I got too much . EDIT: Yeah. I see what you mean. Unless you want to avoid a popular space for a few weeks, then it is kind of "forced" into your/my overcrowded inventory. It's kind of unique though? uke:
you should be able to gift your inventory contents, I got a whole female wardrobe I could give away with over two years worth of rewards in
That's what I mean by "forced". If you go to that space, you get it, like it or not. I don't want stuff in my inventory. Have to much junk already. All it does is slow it down more. And to make matters worse, they don't tell you a description of what you are getting, you just get it. Give us the option. It's been done before. No reason not to. They also need to give us a DELETE option in our inventory to get rid of all the useless junk and let us speed up our menus. Yes, I like how Ford did it too. However, I doubt they will only have one section for advertisers. I don't think any possible advertisers would want that.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Advertisers are probably being sold on the fact that a Home user has to flip through the costume in the wardrobe more than the one in a million chance someone will actually see another person wearing it.
I'll wear my Pot Noodle costume more often (RARELY) then I'll eat Pot Noodles (NEVER) so I feel like I've had the last laugh! HaHaHa
Kw, I'd say that people are definitely confusing the choice of "Yes I want Pot Noodles because it's funny," versus "No it's not okay because I can't refuse accepting it." If the outfit were devoid of humour you can bet that most people would be voting No. It's like I said. This is UK humour... Innuendo and shocking double-entendre is normal even for BBC public radio and TV. You can joke about sex in a public forum but their version of going too far would be to actually dress one's 12 year old up like a tart, or to sigh "I'm stuffed!" at the dinner table. You would get disapproving looks if you were insensitive enough to say that while people were eating. Anyway, what really worries me is that the EU marketing team is going to look at your Poll and say, "See! Homesters don't mind aggressive advertising tactics, let's just do it again next time!" The responses to the Poll at this point are mixed, in effect saying it's ok to force items on us. 11 Yes, 6 Doesn't matter, 2 Don't like, and 8 Don't do it again. We don't want to skew results due to ambiguous wording. So may I recommend that you change the Poll answers immediately, to better reflect the way people are interpreting the choices: Yes - But only because it's funny Maybe - Doesn't really matter to me No - I'm not a walking billboard Never - Please don't force items on us ever again! I think those choices would cover the basic possibilities. Best run this by Carla and Jo, see what they think. Good luck on sending the right message to Home Management. :nuke:
i understand that the outfit is being forced on us when we enter the plaza/hub and that some people don't want it cause either they don't like the sign or cause of the advertising itself. but at the same time isn't all the rewards forced on us in a way??? that is like half of the midway rewards i could careless to have but i have to have them just to get the ones i want. so the the only true way right now not to get a reward you don't want is to not go to that space or play that game . now i know that isn't the way alot of people want to deal with this but it is the only sure fire way right now not to get a reward you don't want. as for me i look at it like it is a free service so they have to get money from somewhere so i am willing to deal with some items i don't want to keep it that way. buy what do i know i am just a birdbrain lol
The simplest option that I think would make it all okay all ways around would be to allow us to delete stuff from our storage.
I would really like to delete stuff I don't want. But the one problem with that is that previously when Home has deleted stuff from our inventory, we've had some errors that affected other rewards. Most notably the winter wonderland reward error in japan.
that is true fire, there is also still items that have been deleted from alot people that hasn't gotten back to us like the chris angel coffin couch
It's not like your avatar is forced to wear the item. They just place it in your inventory and you can send it to the storage bin. I don't understand the problem. I was more annoyed by the NA team forcing people into the UC3 space last month. Not that it was such as big deal either but the longer loading time was something of a hassle. Home barrages the users with non-stop promotions in practically every space. Everybody should be accustomed to it by now.
whusler 30. Nov 26, 2011 7:30 AM Re: Message Of the Day is a LIE Ok I tell you what is not LIE You'll get all Thanksgiving Food rewards in DEAD ISLAND space, (Works for both NA and EU account) Credit where credit is due. :: Thanks whusler, it's true.
