Hey guys, I've took the video capture of the Macross event, and made subtitles for it. All by myself. Translated and encoded the subtitles by hand. Been working on it every night since the event ended. A massive effort. These aren't perfect. but I hope these help you enjoy the event more. Joanna kindly uploaded this huge file to her Youtube Channel for everyone. You can just go there: http://youtu.be/C2UXA1uitoQ Or if you want a copy for your computer..... Here's what you you need to download: FOR PC subtitle file MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Macross Concert video (660MB) MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Just put the two together in the same folder on your PC. If you have a PC, just click the video and the subtitles should upload automatically. You can then watch the movie with subtitles. optional fonts MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service For the best quality, you can load the fonts directly into your system. These hopefully will work. I know they work on pc. But i think .ttf files work on mac. Though I'm not sure. Tekton bold is the main font I used. Ranka's song is Hobo font. Sheryl's song font is Harrington. And the Emergency bullitens and pilot chatter is Agency FB. FOR MAC If you own a MAC, well. That's harder. Apple sucks for allowing 3rd party video types. You can get around this by downloading perian, which is a free quicktime add-on from perian.org. After you install it, just run the video files above like normal. If the subtitle is next to it in the same folder with the same name, it will run the subtitle automaticaly. If all else fails, you can use videolan. That is a great video player that can play just about any file on either mac or pc. You can get it from videolan.org. It's Free. Install it and run the video like normal. If it don't run the subtitles automatically, you can manually select it and upload them while the video is playing. But you can use this one if you just want ONE file that plays simply on just about anything including a MAC: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WSC6D4KL It's the same as the PC version. But the quality is slightly less. But I embedded the subtitles on the video so you don't have to worry. This plays on most modern computers and my ipad too! Please let me know if you enjoy the subtitles. I would love to hear if it helped you enjoy the concert more. I wanted to add a special thank you to Jo for all her help. And to Baron and Karen. They tested this out for me. Faga and Minotantantan helped me with a couple of japanese lines that stumped me. And thank you to Carla whose program add-ons helped me alot. I got to see what was on Jo's mac as she played this file. that helped enormously! I would also like to thank the people on the net who translated the songs. I used so many to figure this out. So I can't really single out a few, but seeing other people's translations helped alot.
Thank you so much for all that effort! I was wondering what they were singing about besides mecha anime
Hey FF, you are rockin' it with the .ass sub upload. Gonna download it tonight after work and watch and relive the glorious HOME Macross Concert on my 46" Samsung 850 Series LCD TV once again from my PC stream to my PS3 with PS3 Media Server! Thank you once again with the hard work you have gone into it. Have you consider be a fansub person on any anime or Japanese Drama series?
Thank you Guys! I'm glad you enjoyed it. boy, iv never worked so hard on something like this before. This was really like a second job. Bit it's great to see what was being said. I think most of us were just bored at the dialog sections. We can't read it, so we can't enjoy it. But spending the time to figure out every word, and trying to assemble some of the meanings was a daunting effort. I'm sure I blew some of the meanings. But I'm probably close to many of the fansubs quality out there. And I'm a he'll lot better than google. Lol. I hope I was able to convey the meanings well enough
Sweet. Subtitles worked for my player so I'm set. Didn't think the text portion(prior to subtitles) was boring, then again it's me just trying to recognize simple characters. Great job FF, and to think just recently I just rewatched the raw version of this concert. More Macross can't hurt.
I'm not getting any subs. Win7, WMP12 fully updated, captions turned on, fonts installed, both files in the same folder.
Aiken, try using Videolan player. That might solve your problems. let me know if you need more help and I'll do what I can.
As per FF's takes and here is the link VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!
Just to let you guys know, I'm attempting to produce a version with subtitles hard encoded onto the video. So everyone can see them. Joanna Dark kindly offered to YouTube them. So that's how we will do it. That should make the subtitles look as good as they do on my screen. Sadly, with so many variables, I can't make sure all the fonts look right for everyone. But this hard encoded file will look good for everyone. Though there may be some slight blurring because the only mp4 video encoder I have( From adobe) may be professional quality, but I can't get it to render as good as the freeware I have on the pc. Go figure that one....
If it appears on Youtube I think it should be fine. A slight blur shouldn't be too bad. If anything I'll still intend to just download the Youtube video then encode it to work on my PS3, most likely in HD. Gives me a chance to test out my encoder anyway so I can't see a lose lose situation here =p
@aiken: If you have Divx player you can try that as well. :wink:The concert is 10x better with the subtitles. Especially the beginning part.. they basically tell you to sit down and shut up; Enjoy the Live!
Yup.... The part where it says to not talk during the show. And it gives instructions on how to report people. I hope we didn't lose anyone to a ban!
They should tell people the part about sitting down and being quiet in English as well. It's has to be known to the developers that there are many many other region visitors. Perhaps knowing what was said for that would help people behave.
Sony Aquarium with their on the hour video has brief English subtitle to describe the video content. I think it would be good if JPN HOME start to have a bit of English implementation just like you see in their daily life with highway destination signage, subway destination sign etc in both native Japanese and English.
Yup. They really need to tell us about that at events. Only a few of us english speakers realize there is a problem. But back to the subs, I am now checking and uploading a version for Mac and YouTube right now. It will take a few hours. Hopefully unless there is an error, I will have a new version for the people who couldn't run the subs. I'm also splicing in the brief walk through Home Square up to the Valkyrie fightercraft. This version will have less clarity, especially when things are moving. But that couldn't be helped.
All right! Attack Plan Love Heart! I finally have a version of the concert that will run on Macs. MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service 900MB. Please enjoy it.
I love what you did. It's playing in Quicktime on my Mac and it beautiful! I'd love to upload this to my Youtube Channel if that is Ok with you. I will give you full credit. Joanna Edit: I uploaded it (hope that is ok). I'd love to link it on twitter and elsewhere. Let me know if that is ok with you.
