Its the week of Obon, thus is slow and more family oriented gathering holiday for the Japanese to celebrate the return of their ancestor into the physical world from the ethereal (spirit). Thus its important holiday/culture/family gathering during this time of August.
Yeah and SCEJ doesnt need update it mall every week like other regions Give the japanese breaks on buying items

LOL..I don't think you want anything to do with Obon in HOME. Its more of a family tradition thing VS the fun stuff. Its a serious business in the Asian country (Taiwan, China, Japan and Korea) with this holiday being around to give respect to the dead and passed on love one and ancestor.
Ummm O.O Its like asking you to stick two chopstick in your food upright!? Do you know what that mean when you do that in a Chinese family dinner table?! Its major jinx in our Asian culture which mean you are praying to someone that is dead by the dinner table! Grr..LOL..Recca, don't ask for the ancestor doll, its a major no no. I guess not all Asian culture is understood by the Westerners..

It's more towards a bad impression towards you rather than rude. If you do this at place that uses cheap wooden chopsticks that has splinters then it's ok, but that's rare in Japan. So if you go to a place that gives out regular good ones or non-wooden ones and started rubbing it, it gives out an impression that you regularly go to really cheap places that uses cheap chopsticks and doing unnecessary rubbing.
