The other thing bout buying other region psn cards is not only current exchange rate and sellers mark up but the exchange rate of payment method as well If you live in EU region buying a Japanese card in dollars theres your first exchange rate and mark up, then if you pay by paypal or card theres your second exchange rate and mark up for it to be converted to the euro or pound. Makes 100 yen which should be bout 79p cost about 1.30 making items which already expensive in Japan very expensive
The last time I checked, these were the available cards for these countries: United Kingdom: £25 and £35. Hong Kong: HK$150, HK$200 and HK$300. Japan: ¥1,000, ¥3,000, ¥5,000 and ¥10,000. USD$40 is roughly equal to the £25, HK$300 and ¥3,000 cards. If you're trading with someone on a regular basis, it isn't that difficult to keep track of the trades and currency changes, so that the trades even out over time.
UK don't do £20 anymore, its £25 now. Also i think you can get £35 also but im not sure, but i think i have seen them.
You're right, Carla. I thought I had heard the UK cards had changed. I just did a quick search and found £25 and £35 cards. I didn't find any £50 cards, so those may have been discontinued as well. This is actually really good news, because given the usual currency conversion rates between the US and UK, these new £25 and £35 cards are perfect for trading, whereas the £20 and £50 cards were a royal pain.
So far i browsed, i found these different types of cards: UK: 25 and 35 GBP US: 10, 20 and 50 USD Euro zone: 20 and 50 EUR Japan: 1000, 3000, 5000 and 10000 JPY Hong Kong: 200 HkD Canada: 20 and 50 CAD Concerning my case (French having EU + US + JP + HK account since last year) i frequently buy 20 EUR cards in shops, 50 USD @cardscodes (one every 6 weeks), 5000 JPY @yamato-touch (one every 8 weeks) and 200 HKD @sondox (only bought 3 over a year) As we all know, exchange rate in PS Home is 0.99 EUR = 0.99 USD = 0.79 GBP = 100 JPY = 8 HKD @cardscodes, one 50 USD card costs me 42.55 EUR so an item priced 0.99 USD will costs me 0.84 EUR official EUR/USD would give 0.99 USD = 0.69 EUR >>> loss of 0.15 EUR per each 0.99 USD item @yamato, one 5000 JPY card costs me 49.78 EUR so an item priced 100 JPY will costs me 0.99 EUR official EUR/JPY would give 100 JPY = 0.89 EUR >>> loss of 0.10 EUR per each 100 JPY item @sondox, one 200 HKD card costs me 21.99 EUR so an item priced 8 HKD will costs me 0.88 EUR official EUR/HKD would give 8 HKD = 0.71 EUR >>> loss of 0.17 EUR per each 8 HKD item when i'll have more free time, i'll try to do the same analysis for UK, US and Japanese people
it's just comparison i've made on the 4 regions of PS Home and i found that usually a 0.99 USD item is priced 0.99 EUR / 0.79 GPB / 7 or 8 HKD and 100 JPY you can check on Alphazone for exemple in Threads shop
Here in Australia the PSN cards we use are $30 and $50, I trade with one guy in USA, How we do it if he buy me $30 worth of credit I get him $30 PSN card. That same with 50 credit. I not out to make profit from this but I willing to help anyone, but my main problem is my local game store sells out of $30s a lot of time. But what got me was DC online because 5 my friends in US and can’t join them.
A friend of mine recommended ElectronicFirst.Com Ive never used them but she told me theyre very reliable.I now trade a UK card with US ones with friends but I used to buy US cards on Ebay from a guy called Kenmus he was a very good seller but he stopped doing them and since ive used other sellers on Ebay but 3 of them took money but didnt send a code but luckily enough I got refunded by PAYPAL
why I look for safety first, it is against ebay rules to send codes digitally they have to post cards to you so if they do send digitally do not expect them to be a long term seller.
wow i found this website, so far the cheapest, haven't tried it yet tho but it looks good. Check the link here > Japan Codes / Home
check out this site, codes get sent via email within hour the first order, then within 5 min, orders after most the time. Playstation Network
On Sunday, I was able to buy yen directly from the Japan PSN Store with my Visa card (when I went to purchase Spelunker Black). I bought the 3000 yen option in the drop down. I made sure to check the conversion rate, which was about $37.82 (as of July 31, 2011). I also checked to find out the transaction fee that my bank charges, which they stated as 1% of the purchase price. This can vary from bank to bank, so if you decide you want to use your Visa, find out what the transaction fee will be, because someone mentioned in YPSH Chat that the fee can be a large amount and may not be worth it to do. Anways, after all of the transaction was done processing, Sony charged me $39.29 and my transaction fee was $0.39 for a grand total of $39.68. I don't know if you will find a better deal then that, but if you have a Visa and your transaction fee is low enough, then this might be a good and safe route to take. There are no PSN Codes to worry about or 3rd party persons to deal with that may cheat you. Note: Sometimes the "pending" values on your online statement could be different then the final processed amount. For example, before my transaction was fully processed (still in the pending phase), the two charges showed up as $39.00 and $1.30. Mileage may vary from bank to bank.
I actually just did something very similar with a Mastercard. I was able to buy the Toro apartment from the Home section of the XMB store (Home itself is down). My transaction fee is higher at 3%, so I think I'll find a card that's a little more generous, but I agree that this is totally possible and much more convenient. Whether or not that's a good thing is your call to make. Oh, and I called my bank and had them put a note on the records that this would be an ongoing activity, so that the fraud department would know not to freak out.
Aiken, I'm not sure if I should give you my congratulations or my condolences. I guess I should wait until after you get your first monthly statement and total up all of your purchases.
HOW? don't you need to input a billing address? That's impossible to do. I don't know how you were able to do it.....
Ive been told pre loaded credit cards with the correct currency loaded on them work ok without a correct billing address
