Currently I believe they made this method because they don't want to lose people from the aquarium with the event going on at Sony building. They may change after August when the event ends, but can't guarantee on that. I know it's frustrating, but we still have a month, so it's still not panic time. I also believe they go by a 3 hour block. But since the event at Sony building starts at 11 and ends at 19, the hours for the Barracuda becomes chopped off. To explain it easy: 9-12 is for barracuda <- Staff seems to come online around 10:30 15-18 is for shark 18-21 is for barracuda <- Staff turns off PS3 around 19:00 (sometimes a few minutes early)
Thanks for filling us in, trying to understand myself how that worked. I believe a majority of us got file 25 done for the shark, and either one or two pics of the barracuda last night. I may or may not be here little later this evening around the first time the barracuda shows, if anything I might get one change in the tank at the very most (possible birthday plans, reason why I'm not sure if I'll be here). Any clue when file 15 and 28 will show? I thought maybe they'll alternate every week between 9 & 25, then 15 & 28 the next week, then 9 and 25 again. Hoping to get file 9 done before any more show
I'm sure we have more than enough time this week to get those shots for No. 9 and No. 25 if anyone missed them yesterday. It does seem impossible though with the long queues and VR Reps jumping all over the place
A tip for other fish-photographers: Before you swim, spend some time with your inventory camera locating the fish in the tank and learning the pattern it swims. It seems always to be a simple oval, so once you know where to look, you won't waste time in the tank looking all over the place for it. As soon as you get in, pick a spot you know is on its oval and then track the camera backwards along the oval until you spot the fish. Usually doesn't take more than maybe 5-10 seconds to spot it this way. Fighting to see it through a dozen giant schools of little fish is another matter entirely. Watching Jo's video of trying to shoot the shark was painful... it was like watching the movie Truman when he's trying to get out of the town. Glad it ended well.
All in all that was a lot of fun last night. Like some others, some things occurred that didn't make me too happy. VR rep in our instance? Check. Rare sea creature in tank? Check. Starting at a 30 or so spot in the queue (can I say that here?) my turn comes up! But I'm in the PSN chat and instead of hitting the stoopid PS button to exit out of that I hit something else and lose my spot. :disgust: An hour or more poofed away! Thought of leaving, but just found a chair in a corner and sulked by myself. :crybaby: After a bit the VR rep came over and PMd me and danced with me and so I felt a bit better. Went back and joined the qu eue and the others, waited a long time again, got in and got a pic of the Blacktip Shark. All is good again.
I haven't gotten the shark or barracuda. So it only appears in one instance? It won't come to our lovely empty server?
Shark appeared in multiple lounges last night at the same time. I got mine in another instance while chatting with others getting it in another. They do not appear in "private" lounges.
Well i was on saw VR .... Home3 as well as VR .... Home1 never saw any RARE fish while they were there. This event is worse than the Zakumi event... Way Worse! And here we thought that USA Home had some lame events in the past but this event is worse than anything USA had in the past... Just Saying! This is just stupid we have to go thru all this and for what?
What time was it? There is a 3 hour span that non of rare fishes comes out and the VR rep needs to swim at that instance atleast once for that day to have the fishes to appear. I know it's frustrated on how the event is held, but I don't think it is anywhere near how bad the US ones are. Oh, that's my opinion and you have yours, so nothing against you. Also, as I wrote in my previous post, they did this method to introduce Home and show what potential it has to other people and have the event gathered with people during the event. Alot of times, places just become deserted after they get their rewards, so that will be a disaster for the event holders in Japan. There may be a chance for sponsors to look at it and come aboard by look at this. There is still a month to go...what's the rush? Unless your going for a vacation tomorrow and won't be back for a month.
It was at the set times... one space Dan was in also. Swam in the tank but never seen any rare fish. I haven't seen any of the VR people swim in the tank. I have seen the VR people goto the fish book room and are in the fish book so maybe they can turn then on/off by the fish book? Don't know why they be in the fish book otherwise? Oh Well i'll try again tonight at the set times. just hope it works then. We still don't know if there is a prize for getting these RARE fish pics or if its just more points? If it's just points i don't need more points LOL!
Thats what I'd like to know, where is this going? I need to get the 4 rare fish and a few stars for others, what happens after we're done? Is there a prize for finishing? do you think that they are giving away an underwater apartment for this? a virtual book? I got lucky and spent the afternoon by myself diving over and over in the tank but I'm having a hard time getting stars for a few fish and I need 2 more statues to be done. not sure I want to try to fight the crowds for the last 4.:disgust:
This is so many miles better than any USA-original event from the last couple of years. For one thing, it's not in Central Plaza. For another, it's beautiful. It's fun to go in and swim and shoot photos. It's pretty easy to get points just standing there in front of the window and waving to the swimmers. Now and then a video will give you a bunch more points just for being present. From those points come some cool life-sized fish models. No one said you have to get all 24 models, or fill your book. Nothing comes of getting all 24, except for having all 24. I'm betting that filling the book doesn't produce any reward, except maybe a pile of points. I don't care, it's just fun to "collect 'em all!" Even if you're not in the mood to go that far, just a few trips to the bubblegum machine will yield a good number of pretty cool rewards. Go swimming and you get some spiffy screenshots. Not to mention that it's been a fun way to get to know other YSPHers... To say this is worse than anything USA had in the past is just unfathomable to me.
Hey, guys, I'm back from Vegas, and would like some help on knowing when the other fish comes up in the tank. Preferably, some EST time schedule would be nice.
I already got the 24 fish... The hard part is finding any VR person and finding the RARE fish in the tank while u swim! Tonight i looked for over 1:30min jumping from one space to another trying to find any VR person after 1hr and half i found VR Home1 Then she left the space a few secs later during a black out... She left. She was gone... After an hour and a half of searching for one single VR person they go and leave a few sec's later... Talk about LAME events... this one blows monkey balls! kept trying found a space that had VR Home2 in it a male avatar and been in this space since. This VR guy has been in the fish tank many many times. I been in twice and still no sign of any RARE fish in the tank. This is getting to be one Hassles or NIGHTMARE to say the least! I'm about to call it quits to this event seems like a bust here! Darn It! By: DCS
Its easier to find them when you have a large group of people covering more instances. And as Faga mentioned, we still have a month, there isn't any rush. But you're more than welcome to quit anytime DCS, completely up to you. Just make sure you aren't filling up any queues to get into the game if you're so set on quitting and assuming this event to be a "bust".
I've got 26 photo sets and 23 fish statues but still no Whale Shark and Manta Ray statues so far. I've noticed a shark statue that I got that isn't in my photo album so maybe it's one of the rare fishes.
So you looked for 1.5 hours....let me see....lets say barracuda times in Japan are 10:30 to 12:00 (assuming VR came in 30 minutes early) . Next rare fish comes out at 15:00 to 18:00. Hmm... someone hasn't read all my post.
