Next generation to bring a ?big leap? in graphics ? Square Enix We?ve seen evidence of what current ?next-gen? engines can do. Just take a look at Crytek?s CryEngine 3 or DICE?s brand-new Frostbite 2. But according to Square Enix worldwide technology director*Julien Merceron, graphics can and will be pushed further once actualnext-generation machines are released.?I think that we?re still going to see a big leap in graphics,? said Merceron during an interview at Develop. ?In terms of technology I think we?ll see developers taking advantage of physically-based rendering, physically-based lighting. I think people will take advantage of global illumination, or at least some form approximation of global illumination, so that could have a significant impact on graphics quality.? :vampire: Click The Link 4 More :vampire: That VideoGame Blog » Next generation to bring a “big leap” in graphics

And we?re not here trying to drive the market, we?re here to react to what consumers are looking for.?To that end, the company will be allocating its resources towards implementing social features instead.?Right now we?re seeing better growth focusing on a different technology innovation?online and social,? he said.?We?ve seen really high returns here, and very poor returns focusing on 3D. Always-on DRM ?a success? ? Ubisoft Ubisoft sees its widely-loathed way of doing DRM ? they require a constant internet connection, even when playing offline ? as ?a success.?There?s been ?a clear reduction in piracy of our titles which required a persistent online connection,? the publisher told PC Gamer after the upcoming Driver San Franciscowas discovered to make use of the system, ?and from that point of view the requirement is a success.?A critical point goes unmentioned though; whether or not there?s been an increase in actual game sales.Until there is, and even then, the system will continue to tick off the paying customer the publisher has already reeled in. Credibility mounting over Frostbite 2-based Mirror?s Edge sequel There were rumors floating about during the early weeks of June that suggested if Mirror?s Edge 2were to get made, it would more than likely be made using the Frostbite 2 engine. It seems that the aforementioned rumor has*received*some credibility as the Official Playstation Magazine is*parroting*the same sort of information. The magazine?s line on Mirror?s Edge 2and Frostbite 2 mirrored the comments in June from EA?s*Frank Gibeau. ?The Frostbite 2 engine will pave the way for Mirror?s Edge to make a free-running return.?Any sort of logical thinking on our part would allow us to deduct with some semblance of certainty that most everything DICE develops moving forward would end up on the Frostbite 2 engine. :vampire: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :vampire: That VideoGame Blog » Credibility mounting over Frostbite 2-based Mirror’s Edge sequel
