It seems there are more members of this forum that uses the PS3 browser then i thought.
Maybe because your PC or it's the only way to access the web AND YES there are those that the PS3 browser is they're only web access atm. Certain websites maybe harder to use or access at all. hopefully others will share tips & help try & solve problems anyone may have using the PS3 browser.

    1. Web Browser freezing up.
I've had this many times. what i've done to reduce this is delete the cookies & cache & history. That helped in reducing the freezing. here's how 2 for PC http://www.nyu.edu/its/faq/cache.html
    here's how 2 for PS3 http://askabouttech.com/how-do-i-clear-my-ps3-history/

I delete my cookies & cache & history maybe every four days, BUT If you are still not sure google it to answer any doubts you have.

Java Script for Website Features & Slowly Loading Pages

Certain websites may take awhile to fully load on the PS3 because of the site's numerous features or numerous ads & such. I've noticed if you turn off the java script before accessing certain websites they will load faster HOWEVER on some websites certain features will not work with the java script turned off.

This really works well, as I now implement it here on YPSH, when using my PS3. That cache and history tip works as well, as I have been doing that since last year!

    Great :)
Remember if you can't access certain features then turn on the java script then refresh the page.
If you can't access certain features even with the java script on then it's due to the older browser of the PS3 :(

A guy actually conducted an experiment with the PS3's web browser and compared it to his phone lol. In doing so he actually discovered a lot of interesting things, the first being that the PS3's web browser is actually the same as the one used in the PSP! (I couldn't believe that, even though the interfaces are set up the same, it's quite shocking) The second thing he found was that the PS3's true web browser is actually hidden, SONY uses a dummy web browser "Mozilla" to hide the real browser's name, which is Netfront. He concluded that the PS3's web browser is somewhere between a mobile and desktop browser, to which I agree, but considering that the PS3 is a console, I would've expected SONY to integrate a full desktop browser, but that's just me I suppose!

Since the NetFront browser is used primarily on mobile devices like phones and pocket pcs, I was curious to see what kind of capabilities the PS3 version had. What kind of Javascript support does it have? Does it support CSS? DHTML? AJAX? Flash? Unfortunately I couldn't find any other specific information about the PS3 browser. It was time to do some tests.Document Object ModelRecently I built a simple browser test page that I use with mobile device browsers. It displays the user-agent and http-accept headers sent to the server, and if javascript is available, loops through the list of supported mime types and plugins. I've tried it with all of the usual desktop browsers, a number of mobile phones, and the Opera Mini browser which supports Javascript on my Samsung A900 phone.

What I didn?t know when I purchased the PS3 is that the browser is IE6, Microsoft?s now antique internet browser which no longer works with a range of video sites, be that due to either lack of modern support, or as the case has been with many sites, those sites have withdrawn support for IE6 and no longer allow IE6 users to view their content.I knew something was up the day I hit a site I visit regularly, and a box popped up telling me I had to upgrade to a newer browser to view the content without allowing me to proceed; clearly the site is pitching this at people visiting on computers, but the PS3 has no ability to install an alternative browser.

All that proves Sony uses outdated software to run certain features. YET PS3 IS STILL KICKING 360's ASS BWAHAHA!!!!
Anyway, Since PSHome trophies gaming online passwords purchases all requires PSN access & since PSN access requires an e-mail address, shouldn't the PS3 browser be upgraded to give gamers the ability to access the web properly to set all that up, not everyone has a PC or PC access.

I see you've been busy, not only finding the guy who's findings I summed up, but also finding additional information as well!! great job as usual!! lol agreed PS3 is much better than the 360 (for numerous reasons)! I agree with you 100% the PS3 should be suited to meet those criteria of accessing the PSN and more. That is so true, not everyone has a PC, in fact some of the gamers I know solely bought a PS3 to access the internet as they thought it would be fully capable of allowing them total access to it!I think the PS3 has the ability to allow proper access to internet, not all the capabilities of a desktop, but at least enough to display web pages properly. I mean SONY collaborated with Toshiba on this console and this is the end result?...how disappointing!
