While not involved in this particular suit, I do this kind of work. It is a fight between Sony and its own insurance company over whether or not the terms of Sony's professional insurance policy include the duty to defend and indemify Sony for lawsuits stemming from the Hack and the PSN crash. All insurance policies contain agreed upon exclusions from coverage. Basically they have gone to court to determine whether or not the insuance company is bound to pay for a provide a lawyer for Sony in any/all of these lawsuits, and who has to pay for any potential recovery, Sony or the Ins. Co. If the Insurance company wins, it's potentially a LOT more money lost by Sony.
