I'm guessing it is active. You don't need it to be an active item to download the game and to play it. The conspiracy arcade cabinets prove that. But I'm guessing to deny people that haven't paid extra requires it to be active so it can run extra programming to check your PSN purchases.
From NA Blog: (not sure how much of this applies to HK-Asia) + Locust_Star on July 20th, 2011 at 11:19 am said: The cabinet will be $6.99. Couple of things to keep in mind about Scribble Shooter: 1.) The arcade cabinet not an active item, which means you can place more than 2 in any personal space. 2.) Each level unlocks a reward, for a total of 10 items. And these rewards are awesome, featuring the same art from the game in some very creative applications. 3.) The first level is free to play in Central Plaza (which will be decorated in the Scribble Shooter style) and will unlock a reward as well.
If they simply created 2 versions then yes, I won't be buying it myself anyway but I do hope the NA version really isn't active at that price.
Seems the arcade cabinet is Free to HK users, and the full game unlock is only $24.00 HKD ($2.99 USD). Now someone explain to me how come its $4 less in another region :ermm: Btw although mentioned to be 'active furniture' on the HK website, the arcade cabinet is NOT an active item.
Maybe buy and DL the game to HD in HK and visit and friend's personal space/clubhouse who owns the cabinet/game in NA and reap all the rewards cheap ! :taz:. Doesn't matter to me. I'm not a reward hunter anymore. My basket is too full anyways ! :wow:
Sadly you can't unlock the rewards from another region/ account as you can only play all levels if you have bought the game yourself
Why does one store sell bananas for half the price as the store across the street? Because it's a "free market" and not a socialized market with fixed pricing. It's the same reasons why games, movies, electronics, and just about every product you can think of have different prices when sold in different stores, regions, least of all countries. It's the responsibility for every company and retailer to determine what the "value" is for their products in every market it is sold in and to adjust the price accordingly. Unless you are against free markets, this is how prices reflect more on value and less on artificially created pricing. If you think something is priced to high, vote with your wallet and don't buy it.
Meaning, NA had full control of what to set their price to for Scribble Shooter, as well as HK. And that in this situation, HK didn't have their heads up their asses when setting the price.
What it means is that in HK the demand for Scribble Shooter is predictably lower than NA based on previous comparative sales.... it's amazing to me how some people immediately assume someone has their head up their asses simply because they don't agree or worse yet, don't understand their decision... despite the fact that they apparently don't understand why there are logical explanations for their decision.... like why prices vary for the exact same products... even when sold in stores right next door let alone in a totally different country. Oh well.
Not sure if anyone else spotted this, but there's a maintenance scheduled in the HK message of the day. From 14:00 to 14:05 on 27th July Which if I'm correct is 06:00 to 06:05 BST.
It should be coming, I assume this upcoming week. I was able to win the first demo level reward on both EU and JP accounts, on top of that the game was localized into Japanese text for my JP account.
