I appreciated your letting us all know. It's helpful to know what's going on. I really hope that such a wonderful provider to Home will be okay. What they have done in Home should be a model for other companies on how to make us happy in Home. (not to mention knowing how and what we like to buy)
So far, I haven't really concluded anything about Irem, other that it was in Japanese and Faga has translated it. But, what I meant was if Irem had themselves an American website with their store. I couldn't find one nor any company news.
I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread, but I think Irem have left a lot of money on the table by not carrying things over to NA and EU, maybe theyre not aware just how popular they are over here. Afew months ago I tried emailing them but being all in Japanese its not that easy and I didnt get a reply (although that could be because what I wrote didnt make much sense lol ).
I hope now that PSN and Home are up, that Irem can recoup some of it's losses, and keep their site open. I also hope that they can bring some of the Japan items to NA. I recently found www.play-asia.com, which has allowed me to but PSN cards in Yen for JP and HK, I have bought so much from Irem alone over there. I would hate to see them go.
Well if IREM is going out... I look for allot more places in HOME to close as well due to PSN being down so long. Most likely they think it's not worth the trouble to be on PSN at this point... I think even Lucas store will leave Home very soon. Unless they have a contract with PSN then there stuck till the contract ends... Not a good sign to say the least. But i don't think IREM will be the only one to leave PSN! AWW!
You got a point DCS. I think they will all leave PSN and Xbox Live and no one will ever make video games again. Good bye all video games. Awwww.
there are many rumors in japanese site. irem is a big company and its main buisiness is real pachinko games in japan. they earn more than 75.000.000.000.yen a year,ps-games is just only a minimum part of it. a rumor is that they just close only web shop, they may contnue to keep ps-home stuffs. the other is that their income will be dminished by recession after tsunami and nuke plant disaster, and want to withdraw from ps and pc game area. anyway,we all want irem will keep their nice works on home.
Darn, I hate reporting negative stuff. Wanted some good news, but oh well... Irem has decided to not take any graduates for it's game division for 2012. (They graduate around March and start working around April) Only looking for it's pachinko division. (real ones, not the game ones) Recruit website (Japanese): https://job.rikunabi.com/2012/company/seminar/r246010053/C002/
We appreciate the news Faga. At least, we get a little more information about this company we all are fond of. I hope they survive.
Seems like they really needed more money to make up for their losses for 2011. At least we'll still have their Irem games for PS3 and their events, as well as their Home spaces. I also hope they'll keep April Fools alive too. Still, glad it's not out of business.
This is dedicated to Irem... I hope it will survive.
Irem Seaside Memories is one of the featured spaces in NA Home. I wonder if Sony (or at least the Home division) is trying to help them out because they were hit so hard by the earthquake and then the outage. If so maybe we can still hope to see more Irem come to NA.
I may have some good and bad news. For the bad news, Kazuma Kujou, the producer and game designer for alot of Irem's games, has left Irem. (Probably because of the cancellation of at least 2 games that he was working on) For the good news, he has moved to a new company. From the looks of the website and the diary entry, it seems they will takeover what Irem used to be doing. (Talks about doing a April Fools event larger than ever in the diary) Granzella Homepage Google Translate (translated diary) On the other hand, this may say that Irem is out from the game and PSHome business. I hope they both continue and come up with different stuff though.
Thanks for the links faga! I really hope they keep going. I guess the cancellation of Irems April 1 event and the earthquake really is proving fatal to Irem....I hope they survive. I really do.... I gathered some images from that link and put it in the japan thread. That should lift people's spirits up. At least it's something positive to look forward to in Home Jp!
No one wants Irem to go. But at least some of the employees will continue the tradition of making Home stuff and April 1 events over at the new Granzella company! Hopefully Irem will survive. But at the least we will have Granzella
Granzella is a new game company made by former Irem employees. The name comes from the city/organization name used in the game "R-Type Tactics (or R-Type Command in US)."
